Is the whole "OH MAN IF YOU SEE A WII OUT THERE YOU'D BETTER BUY IT IMMEDIATELY" thing that Nintendo keeps pulling becoming a smokescreen? Is it little more than a devious trick to make the Wii seem that much more exclusive and hard to find?

I can't really speak to that because I haven't been around the country to check on supplies. But the Best Buy near our office has had a stack like this for the past couple of weeks now:

On top of that, they had a few Wii Fits in stock, too. How are things in your area? Is the Wii finally everywhere? Can we please finally stop talking about the Wii like it's some velvet rope "exclusive" that only "lucky" people have? Can we please start talking about it as "the device Jeff will use to obsessively play Animal Crossing: City Folk for a month or two before letting it return to its natural, dormant state?"

If my local gamecrazy can stock Wii's, I'm sure the shortage is long over.

I personally could care less about the Wii. Plenty of em here in New Hampshire. If the fiance didn't enjoy Mario Kart so much, I'd sell the stupid thing. As much as I'd like to play crosswords with a pointer, that's not a GAME.

I hate the Wii because it's popular. Perhaps if it wasn't so popular, I wouldn't hate it as much. I know this has nothing to do with this article, but I'm a douchbag.

Well, where I work we get Wii's fairly regularly and they stay in stock for about a week after the shipment comes in. Wii Fit's go within 3 hours of putting them out (A shipment of about 60-80), so yeah, pretty hard to get.

I wanted a Wii for a long time, just because it was the cheapest toy on the market, but now I'm more inclined to just get an Arcade 360 system, and buy a refurb'd HDD for it

Still a shortage here, but I live in a rural college town where Walmart is the only place to get video games.

Yeah, don't get a Wii if you like to play games. Now if you want to play a toy for a few minutes per "game" purchase, more power to you.

A lot of Wii's nearby, but i don't play mine. I will play Animal Crossing like Jeff, but then leave it in "its natural, dormant state."

i'm happy that i sold it when i did ie, three weeks ago. i sold 500 bucks worth of wii stuff for 280 yet i couldn't be any happier.

In western PA, if you look around hard enough you'll find one, although I've never seen a stack like the picture in this article.

Also, I've seen one wii fit available for purchase since it came out... I didn't get it though.

Hasn't been a shortage in the Greater Toronto Area for about 8 months. They aren't plenty available, but with a bit of searching you can quite easily find one within an hour.

Funny thing actually.
Today I started work at a Game store, just a Christmas Temp job, nothing serious.
The Deputy Manager was getting really angry at the number of people calling to find out if we had Wii's in stock.
Mentioned something about how 'Everyone knows that we've all got fucking plenty'.
I just thought it was amusing at the time. Now, I think it's pretty bloody hilarious.
