Would you pay like a dollar to play Guitar Hero in public?
Would you pay like a dollar to play Guitar Hero in public?
The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions trade show isn't scheduled to begin until tomorrow, but someone on the floor with a cell phone cam made their way to the Raw Thrills booth and snapped off a shot of the Guitar Hero cabinet. Then they sent it over to the good folks at bemanistyle.com with a bit of information.

Every physical aspect we posted about for the "rumored" Guitar Hero cab are present in these pics: At the top of the cabinet, you'll see the Raw Thrills and Activision logos, and, what is that on the left - it's Konami's logo! The LED lights are clearly at the bottom of the screen and appear to change color - maybe just at random, but perhaps along to in-game occurrences. Finally, the screens are wide and it's easy to believe these rank in at at least 32 inches.

Kind of a cool-looking cabinet, but the details of the actual game is what will make this announcement interesting. Will it have some kind of Internet competition aspect, making it Golden Tee with a guitar? How will it receive song updates? Will bars be willing to install a device like that that will just compete with the jukebox for loud music supremacy?

Also notice the long-rumored American Idol arcade cabinet in the background of the shot, bearing the name "Star Studio." I remember hearing awhile back that this was going to be one of those "burn your karaoke performance onto a DVD" sort of deals.

The IAAPA show begins tomorrow, so any official announcements about either game will probably come out around then.

My problem with rhythm games being in arcades is that I can't hear the damn music, so it's hard for me to concentrate.

Maybe 50 cents.... A dollar sounds like a bit much for something I can do at home.... I need more details.... =O

I just hope I can stick my gum in the N64 card reader on the side of the machine. I could walk to a trash can, but they're sooooooooo far away.

I would propably pay for that if I really wanted to show off or something but I don't see any use other than that. Also it's propably not going to be coming to Europe so...

Rhythm games never bode well in the arcades for me, I can't really hear what's going on. I need MASS CONCENTRATION.

It would have to have a very sturdy guitar to withstand the pounding it will receive from Arcade goers.

and, no, I would not drop a dollar to play that, when I can just play at home. Unless it had a really awesome song I wanted to play. lol

Why go to an arcade when you can play it at Best Buy?

I guess the circle is now complete.

Chickentaco speaks the truth! Can't remember the last time I ever saw a Best Buy that didn't have some form of Guitar Hero / Rock Band set up in it.

Oh my lord... this is such a wonderful idea...

Couldn't this potentially bring back arcade gaming? How amazing would that be!

Sweet, on the rare occassions that I do go to arcades this'll give me something to brag about. I wonder what the set list will be? It'll more than likely beat GHWT's.

I am a show offy bastard, so yes. On the few occasions that I do go to the arcades, I'll enjoy this thoroughly.

I've been wondering about this ever since the Guitar Hero episode of South Park.  The kids were playing Guitar Hero in arcades in that episode so... Trey and Matt predicted this before anyone!

And yes, I will play this because I like to show off. Now where's the Rock Band machine? :P

Can't wait to see this in an arcade, pick it up, and realize the guitar is broken. :\

I don't consider Guitar Hero to be worth owning due to the redicilous price on the peripherals, so if the GH Arcade ever makes it across the Atlantic to Europe then there's a strong possibility that i'd try it out.
