Originally planned to be released as Imperium Galactica III the game was renamed Galaxy Andromeda then finally Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. The game sported excellent visuals, even to this day, and was one of the new games that let you control huge capital ships into battle. While receiving good reviews by critics the game sold poorly and after a long hiatus the sequel was announced in August of 2011 giving no other name than 'Nexus 2'.

A Kickstarter campaign was started in on September 28, 2012 to fund a sequel entitled "Nexus 2: The Gods Awaken":
