I've enjoyed my time spent with my 3DS so far, but after using it I've now noticed that some text on my computer monitor seems to be floating slightly in front of the screen, especially when it is black text on a white background when my brightness is turned all the way up. The effect it subtle, but strange. Is anyone else noticing this?

I don't have a serious answer for this question ('cause I don't have a 3ds) but it makes me wonder if the 3DS comes with a note that says 'THE POWER OF 3D HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HANDHELD - THE POWER IS IN YOOOOOOOOOU!!!!'

Mm, i could be just you adjusting to the 3D stuff. Weird stuff happens sometimes when your eyes are being made to see things in a strange way with weird stuff. Text on background with white/black has a tendency to make your eyes go crazy sometimes too after staring at it too long.

I'm not noticing any strange 3D text on your computer monitor at the moment, but I'll keep an eye on it while you are asleep. Just to be safe.

Yea this seems to be a new mega power us 3DS owners have. It happens a lot when I go to watch TV too.

Huh. Sounds like Diplopia. I'd take a break from the 3DS for a while to see if it goes away.

Hmmm... not yet? Then again, I haven't played my 3DS in a longer than 20 minute session, so it probably hasn't kicked in for me yet...

Sounds like you've got a form of diplopia. I've had it all my life, but didn't even notice until a few years ago.

The adaptation of your eyes getting tuned to the 3D flicker mechanic, could be producing the same effect on other things. It's training your brain to adapt this method to other applications!
This could actually be a good thing. If they eventually tune the 3D ability into a full 360 degree progression as time goes on.. we might be able to eventually adapt and see through and omit existences of occupied space at will one day!
Tapping into more of the unused portions of the brain perhaps? :D

I know what your talking about, after playing with the 3DS when I walked down the street everything looked like it was in 3D. It looked so real I felt like I could actually touch people and trees.

After the first day of playing with my 3DS I got the same thing. It lasted for about three days. It felt like sometimes I had a heightened sense of depth, where objects just 40cm or so away from me seemed to pop out from the wall behind. That part I liked, but I definitely wasn't so happy when looking at my monitor, text appeared to be 3D for a second.

I have no idea if this is actually a common symptom associated with 3D use, but just to be on the safe side attempt to throttle the amount of time you spend staring at 3D. If you are playing for an hour straight it wouldn't be a bad idea to turn the 3D off for a few minutes.

This isn't Diplopia, this is simply your eyes re-adjusting to a conventional display. I've found It goes away after a few seconds.

I always thought that Red images/text on displays like the DS and the PSP seemed to stand out from the background and kind of feel 3D.

I think it's just an optical illusion.

Yeah I think that it is some sort of Guitar Hero-like optical illusion, if it was Diplopia I would have probably noticed it before the 3DS. Thanks for the responses though.

It happened to me, but just for split seconds at a time. They're like really nerdy acid flashbacks.

@Vincemaster:   Well Ive heard that if you wear glasses that make you see upside down, after three days your brain will auto correct to right side up.  After that if you take the glasses off, you will see upside down for 3 more days until your brain corrects again.  So maybe its some left over crap, like staring at a bright light for too long.
