On Originality: Nintendo Handhelds > Nintendo Home Consoles

So I recently bought a 3DS at a steal (Original Purple w/New Super Mario 2) also picked up Paper Mario Sticker Star. I have come to realize that if your a Nintendo fan who still wants games that are original, the clear choice would have to be a Nintendo handheld right? I look at what Nintendo did with the Zelda Games on the DS, and I look at games like Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, I cant help but think that Nintendo seems to take more risk with its handhelds, and for the most part delivers what would seem to be the superior Nintendo experience. Does anyone else agree? I mean I know there are tons of example's of this Layton being one, what are some others?

Implying that the 2 DS Zelda games aren't the worst games in the series makes me question this entire post.

But yes, it is normally the case that devs can be more experimental on handhelds due to the lower cost of development and lesser sales expectations.

Pretty much my thinking going into this new set of Nintendo platforms. I had a Wii and DS before and really played my DS way more. The games were pumping out at a good pace and they were very original if not creative, at least Nintendo first party titles. The 3DS has been getting tons of usage from me and going forward I feel it will have enough of that Nintendo charm we all somewhat crave that will make me never need to get a WiiU.

It’s a lot easier to make potable games than console games?
