Club Nintendo Email said:
Important Notice: The Club Nintendo year ends June 30th! If you are a Gold or Platinum member, your status will be reset at this time. Coins are NOT deleted when status is reset. Coins earned after July 1st will count toward next years Gold and Platinum status.
If you achieve Gold or Platinum status by June 30th this year, look out for a special thank-you gift from Nintendo before the end of the calendar year.
So if you have any Nintendo registration codes from your plethora of DS games, you'd better hurry up and use them!

Hrm, i guess I'm the only one curious as to what Nintendo will be giving platinum members. Lets look at some of the stuff they've given away in the Japanese club nintendo:

  • Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack
    SMG Soundtrack
  • TV remote shaped like a Wii Remote
    TV Wiimote
  • Tingles Balloon Fight
    Tingles Balloon Fight
  • Exclamation Warriors
    Exclamation Warriors!
  • alternate retro controllers

I'd take Exclamation Warriors myself, though i doubt the American gift will be any of these things. Hell, we might not even get anything worthwhile

An SMG soundtrack would be sweet.

I'm platinum because of the hundreds of games that I had registered before, apparently. Sweet.

I assume this is America?

I will have to register with the Australian version - I assume I have many games to register, but to be honest, I have no idea how.  I assume you go to their website - and do what?
#5 Posted by AgentJ (8778 posts) -

In America we register our games and fill out surveys for points. The game itself is about how much it was worth in dollars (30 dollars = 30 points) and surveys added another 10 points. Gold Membership was 300 points, and Platinum was 600. Im a Platinum

With 90 DS games - maybe I would be a Platinum as well.  Must check it out.

It's odd that more games don't give you points. Seems like mostly first-party titles. I never hit that Platinum mark because of that.

Anywho, it's probably crap, but I already got my Animal Crossing cards, so I'm okay with that.

I'm definitely at gold, but platinum is way out of my reach.  Meh, Club Nintendo in America is pretty weak at this time.

The gifts you can get with your coins are weak, but this end-of-term gift might be cool. If it isnt i wont bother with club nintendo anymore, but one can dream right?

We already have the SMG soundtrack, but I want all the rest on the European Club Nintendo soon. I would love Tingle's Balloon Fight and all the Game & Watch games also.

I am pretty sure they got Rosy Rupeeland.

Australia has:

2500 points

Wii remote stand
1000 points

Mario Print face towel
1300 points

Game case & stylus set
1800 points

DS Game Wallet (white)
2000 points

I just signed up with Animal Crossing Wii and got 500 points for signing up.  Now I need to check my games for the cards.

#14 Posted by AgentJ (8778 posts) -

Yeah, thats the stuff that you can use your points on, but The stuff I listed is all stuff that Japanese Club Nintendo platinum members got for free at the end of their terms

#15 Posted by oldschool (7264 posts) -

Naturally I want the DS game.  Otherwise, the stylus set looks okay.

#16 Posted by Linkyshinks (9881 posts) -

We have a Mario Galaxy Kite available now.

3000 Stars

Sweet - I could go for that.  I enjoy kite flying and I have plenty of free space to do it.

Don't get Game & Watch Collection. It is really crappy.

It only has three of the Game & Watch games, and they aren't even revamped with touch screen controls or updated graphics. The only reason to get it would be for collecting purposes.

Just 3 more days left guys!

I got Platinum/Elite Status myself.

Don't forget to register your stuffs! :)

#24 Posted by Azteris (810 posts) -

It ended today, with them resetting everyone's status. They didn't mention what would be given out to Gold/Platinum users but said they would do so by the end of July. I personally have 4 accounts that achieved Platinum status, so I hope it's something worth while.

#25 Posted by Godwind (2597 posts) -

I reach platinum months before hand.  I am definitely going to spend my coins this year around.  Coins only last you two "Nintendo years".  I hope to see what is next.

#26 Posted by Haziqonfire (227 posts) -

I just hope its something actually cool - A SMG Sound Track would be amazing though.

You only get points for Nintendo published games, right?

I didn't make platinum status, I was 60 coins short.  I only made gold due to having quite a few games that "transferred" when they started the program here in the U.S.

Also, they limit the time period you can get points for a game.  They want you to buy the new stuff.  I say this, because the most recent game with an unused code I bought was Yoshi Topsy-Turvy for GBA (within the last week).  I got the message that it was ineligible for earning coins.

I feel your pain, I had a bunch of Gamecube games that weren't even close to eligable, but oh well. Did you max out the questionaires too? Because if not, you could have gotten the required 60 points (too late now)
#29 Posted by StarFoxA (5138 posts) -

I only got Platinum because I used all of my friend's codes too... :P

Absolutely, I did.

I've been thinking on this a bit too.  How many games does Nintendo publish during a year?  If they leave it at 600 coins for platinum status, you'll have to buy 12 Nintendo games (estimating 50 coins per game) to qualify.  I think from here on out, it's gonna be for the hardcore Nintendo fan only.

*edit*
Do they offer coins for WiiWare games?
#31 Posted by macandcheese (223 posts) -

Yeah I made it cause  had a backlog of Wii and DS games to register, also the DSi I bought gave me like 160 coins which is what actually
pushed me up to platinum.  From nopw on its definitly for the serious hardcore audience, most other poeple probably dont even know it exists.
