DS Games with Good Story

#1 Posted by PacManFevaa (122 posts) -

I spend most of my time playing games on the home consoles because I like to play games with good stories. I was hoping you guys would know some DS games with stories that are as good as ones I get on the consoles.

Ghost Trick.

The Phoenix Wright games are more or less all story and have some pretty fun characters. I think it was the same team that also made Ghost Trick, which has an intriguing mystery that unravels as you play.

  • 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors
  • Ghost Trick
  • Radiant Historia
  • Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
  • Shin megami Tensei: Devil Survivor
  • The World Ends With You
  • Any of the Phoenix Wright games
  • Mario & Luigi; Bowser's Inside Story (Only if you like pure comedy)

I can probably find a few more if I look through my collection.

Pretty repetitive gameplay, but the story is cool.

I can't recommend this one enough. One of the best games I've ever played.

Really?

I started playing it a while back, but I didn't get too far; I ended up getting frustrated with the game, particularly with the checkpointing. Is it worth picking it up again and giving it another shot. Also, roughly how long would you say it is?

I never thought I'd stay up late into the night playing what is really just a text adventure game. But the storytelling is compelling and the characters are interesting, and I stayed up until 3 AM for a week playing that game before I went to bed. And when I finally figured out what was actually going on, my mind was blown.

The correct answer is Ghost Trick.

The World Ends With You did it for me with story more than any DS game. And I typically can't stand Square Enix stuff.

Yeah, you need to play this game!

If you like science fiction, particularly space opera, I would say that Infinite Space would rank as one of my favorite games ever, marred by the fact that apparently Platinum just has no idea how to end a game.

How am I only the second person in this thread to post Radiant Historia?

In addition to the previously mentioned, I'd also add Hotel Dusk: Room 215.
