We all know about the 360 dropping off prematurely, but what about the DS. The system has been around for a number of years now and surely some of us have had to replace a dead one. So is your system still alive a playing well, or have you had to replace it?
Nintendo DS

The Nintendo DS is a handheld featuring two screens, one of which is a resistive touchscreen. Four different models are available: the original DS, the DS Lite, the DSi, the DSi XL.
How many times have your Nintendo DS died?
my DS is fine, well, it sure doesn't LOOK fine, but it's in fairly good condition, considering it's a DS phat, i sold it to my friend though, since i got kinda bored and annoyed at the fact that it had no backlight, which caused me to see nothing but my own reflection at many times.
the phat seems more enduring than the lite, i've heard of a few people's whos lites touch screens have died, which was suprising, wonder what they did. from memory, nintendo or somestore or something, did a test on the touchscreen where they hit it with a hammer and it was perfectly fine.
as for physically breaking...i think someone's skull is more likely to break than the ds, the thing's practicaly a brick
Well, my first DS lite may not be dead, but it has probably been raped and sodomized. I took it with me to PAX two years ago, and it was in my bag and my bag was under my seat, and when i got up to leave, he was gone, along with my PAX swag and 7 games. If you have seen a Black DS lite with a stranger please report it to your local police. I just have to continue to hope that he will come home safe someday...
I've been through 3 or 4 Xbox 360s but I've never had to replace any of my other consoles. I have an original DS from launch week that's received some serious abuse in it's time on this Earth, but apart from the unavoidable shortening of its battery life, it still works like new.
My DS Lite seems to be damn near indestructable. I couldn't imagine the amount of play in hours I've actually had with the device, and it's still going strong. By this point I wouldn't feel ripped off in the slightest if it were to drop dead. Another $130 seems like a steal when I think about how much I play the thing.
Never, but my first SP got killed by a Coke 2-liter falling and hitting the screen, cap first. Giant cracks and dead pixel blobs abounds!
So far, apart from an abduction and certain sexual abuse to Agent J's DS and some abuse by the owner (unintentionally of course), I seem to be the only one here with a defective DS. Seems to be a rare event. Somebody has to be the owner of that rare lemon and looks like it was me :-)
Yep I got mine a few days before the US launch (living near NOA's HQ has its benefits) and it still works just fine. I probably will get a DSi though because the touch screen on my original is kind of scratched.
"A nintendo system...break?Never heard of it."It is looking like a rarity on my part. If someone on here saying that their DS died, I would be suspicious that they were a Sony fan spreading untruths. I clearly do not fall into that category. It actually makes me a little glad inside that no-one else has had the problem :-)
