The Nintendo DS is a handheld featuring two screens, one of which is a resistive touchscreen. Four different models are available: the original DS, the DS Lite, the DSi, the DSi XL.

My DS tells me I have no DS cartridge in when clearly i do.

Hey guys, well I fished my DS out of my dresser the other day to try and play some pokemon, but when it goes to the main syestem menu, it says there is no DS cartridge inserted, when clearly I do. I tried every game I could find and they all say the same thing. Please, does anyone know why its doing this. Did I set it wrong or something? Is it bricked? please help.

It is clear that the DS is lying to you.

Blow into where the DS cartridge would go into-not the DS cartridge GameBoy style, the actual place where the cartridge goes into. Blow gently, then try.

This. Use the old Console Cartridge trick, it has worked for me in the past.

Restarting and replacing the cartridge often solves the problem.

Also, try blowing into the cartridge slot.

It may also turn out your DS is just old.

@kous18:@Azteck: Yes, this is most typically associated with the NES because of issues with the "10NES" copy protection chip. it can also be necessary with other consoles however.

I blew into the slot just like you would an NES.

    And it works every time.

I have the original fat DS by the way.

It could be because the springs from the cartridge slot are loose. This happened to me when I left a game in the slot for some months. When I picked it back the console wouldn't recognize that a cartridge was in place.

Ok my DSL is broken and scotch taped back together again, so may not apply but, same thing happens to me and I have to just push the game in and out 1-25 times and it´s fine again.
