So while it doesnt look like the system will go through a price drop any time soon, would you buy a DS lite if it was, say $100.00 instead of the current $130.00?"I have never said that cutting the suggested retail price is not in the cards. However, price cuts in one country can certainly affect other countries. For example, when you say that we should cut the price in Japan due to the current domestic market situation, once the suggested retail price is cut in Japan, people outside Japan will anticipate the same around the world."

The Nintendo DS is a handheld featuring two screens, one of which is a resistive touchscreen. Four different models are available: the original DS, the DS Lite, the DSi, the DSi XL.
Would you Buy a DS for a lower price?
During a recent financial meeting, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata was aked about a possible price drop for the DS Lite.

I'd probably buy a DSi for that price, I've already got a Lite, though. If you're buying a GBA, get the Micro, they're way cooler, I'm playing one right this second, actually.I'm probably going to buy a GBA instead, most likely a Gameboy SP. Or wait for a virtual console for ... [more]

I never owned a the original. I owned a Gameboy Color and their successors. More importantly, I want to play castlevania.
Godwind said:
Yeah, you'll want an SP, because the original advance has no back-lighting. You dont realize how big a problem that is until you dont have it anymore.TooWalrus said: Godwind said: TooWalrus said: Godwind said: I'm probably going to buy a GBA instead, most likely a Gameboy ... [more]

Sold off my old SP to buy a DSi. Like I said, waiting for a Virtual Console for the DSi. If I am not mistaken. Godwind said: TooWalrus said: Godwind said: TooWalrus said: Godwind said: I'm probably going to buy a GBA instead, most likely ... [more]
I believe these are the different size carts for each GBA game.
1) 16 MB
2) 8 MB
3) 4 MB
Size carts for GB and GBC games
1) 2 MB
2) 1 MB
3) 512 KB
4) 256 KB
5) 128 KB
6) 64 KB
7) 32 KB
The Wii has an internal storage of 512 MB with the Wiiware game limits at 40 MB. which can store about 12 games in there.
The DSi has an internal storage of 256 MB. Assuming that system allows the maximum of 12 games at the maximum size, that leaves 21 MB per a game. An emulator would likely need to be 2MB to 5 MB to run the game.
So far the largest game on the DSi is Real Footbal 09, which is about 15.5 MB.
i would buy a DS lite if the price came down im not that interested in getting a DSi and my fat DS hinge is holding on by one side

My god, I keep forgetting how bad they screw you on the price down there. They might as well just keep a bottle of lube next to the register. I'd love to visit your country, but I sure as hell won't be buying any games. I have my DS Lites, so price is irrelevant to me. $300 for the DSi is a little high for ... [more]

I always like to keep the price in perspective though. It is $300 Au, which is about $240 US (currently). That is the comparison. How much is the DSi in the US, compared to our $240?oldschool said: I have my DS Lites, so price is irrelevant to me. $300 for the DSi is a little ... [more]
Plus, I do believe the average wage in Australia is higher. My casual staff get paid $24 per hour and it isn't a sophisticated job (I get about $40 per hour). That is $19 US (my staff, not me) and I assume a fair bit more than most menial jobs in the US.
We are definitely more expensive as a general rule though, just not as much as it looks on the surface.
oldschool said:
Yeah its only $170 in the US but it still seems a little high, I think they would be better off at the $150 price point, more average customers would see it and only see a $20 difference between the DS lite and the DSiAlex_Murphy said: oldschool said: I have my DS Lites, so price is irrelevant to me. $300 for the DSi is ... The wages are lower here, the minimum wage for example in Oregon where I live is $8.40 an hour and we have one of the highest
macandcheese said:
At that hourly rate, it is less than $11 Au per hour, and less than half my staff get. It makes a difference. If I stayed at home and got unemployment benefits, I would get that for just staying at home and pretending to look for work, and theoretically, I could get that forever.oldschool said: Alex_Murphy said: oldschool said: I have my DS Lites, so price is irrelevant to me. $300 for the ... We have a healthy social democracy. Universal health care, unemployment benefits, youth allowance to go to University, many prescription drugs are vastly reduced prices and much more. We are surviving the Global Economic Crisis better than most countries simply because we have much government regulations controlling business. That is a good thing and America can learn a lot from us.
We have a Communist Party as well, but they are not much fun :-)

Nah, it probably is for the better. It seems most Americans like spending money. I like spending. My government likes spending money. Although I didn't realize that you guys have universal health care. I thought you actually had to insure yourself. Perhaps my friend was lying to me.
I'd probably buy a DSi for a hundred bucks, since its current price is too high to justify upgrading my system for (currently) nearly no benefit. The web browser sounds like a nice addition. Does anyone know how well it works?
Godwind said:
We have both private and universal health care. Everyone pays about 2% of their salary as a Medicare levy. You can have private insurance, but you still have to pay the levy. If you earn over a certain amount (about $70,000), you pay a higher levy if you choose not to go private - socialism, making the rich pay more.oldschool said: Godwind said: oldschool said: macandcheese said: oldschool said: Alex_Murphy said: oldschool said: I have my DS Lites, so ... The browser is only as good as the person who can make use of it. From first appearances it seems like a piece of crap until you really look deep into it. The initial set up of the DSi browser is set up for really slow set ups. The default set up uses the Overview mode with separate frames with pictures loaded. The overview mode allows for a larger exploration of the page. When in column view everything is slender, reducing the ram used. However it is hard to read unless you set it up in combined frames.
In the overview mode, giantbomb was nearly unusable. Clicking on thread links took forever and the loading of the page took far too long. In the set up I used, everything was pretty quick.
