I think i explain it on the top of the OP, but I'm using it as a list of games that will be immense fun for certain people, while potentially boring or awful to someone else. "
I can back up the Crystal Chronicle games.  They are awesome.
"
I have a personal vendetta against ROF, due to the lack of overworld (who wants to venture between places using a menu?). However, I hear that Echoes of Time does let you venture forth into the wilderness. Where would you say that one should be?

You and your personal vendettas.  How big is that list  :-)

I think that most Final Fantasy is probably more niche these days.

Devil Survivor should definitely be in the must have list and Sonic Chronicles should be in the crap tier list.

I think a good second tier or niche title to add is Magical Starsign.  It's a somewhat obscure RPG that was released by Nintendo a couple of years ago.  It's a light, fluffy RPG, but it's a good time all the same.

Good catch, I'll get to it right away!

Good time eh? For now I'll add it to the third tier, but if you give me good reason i'll upgrade it.

I'll vouch for it.  It is a very nice, enjoyable, but low profile RPG.  It looks and plays very nicely and reviewed quite well against its peers in the RPG domain.

It shouldn't be upgraded though, it's plagued with terrible design decisions, but then again so is Sonic Chronicles...

This list shouldn't be called decisive, it really isn't. It's just a recommendation topic.

It's not nearly as bad as someone naming their thread the "official" *insert name of popular game here* thread, or the baseball championship being called the "world series" when only american teams participate. Dont look too much into it. I'd also like to add (again) that the list was made with some games getting certain levels despite my personal biases or favoritism, so its not like its "just" a reccomendation topic.

Okay. I need another DS game. Looking through the list, more than half of these games I have either already played or beaten, and a good third of them I know I wouldn't enjoy. I need help.
The game should be playable in very short bursts (as handheld games always should) and I should be able to save my progress any time.
The game should not be dependant on sound/music (as handheld games never should)
I don't feel like playing another strategy game soon.
I wouldn't mind a story, but if it's a game with some sort of story, it needs to be excellently written and preferably NOT primarily/exclusively told in the typical character-stills-with-captions style. I'm practically sick of that.
I don't really want another "shoot stuff" game; but if shooting stuff is a part of it, it's not that much of a problem.
Something.. I don't know. Calm? Ordered? Less hyperactive and exhausting than TWEWY please.
I like to try something new as long as I am properly introduced to new concepts in-game.
I would love for something that is as charming and creative as World of Goo or Braid.
I am reluctant to start another RPG.
In other words, I want Professor Layton. Thing is, I already played the hell out of Professor Layton.  Or Hotel Dusk. Or N+. Or Rhythm Heaven. Or Harvest Moon.

It's generally amazing how much gameplay I have gotten out of that thing since I bought it in '05. But still. Need more.

You've eliminated a lot of different types of games, but here are a few to look at.
I assume you've played the Phoenix Wright quadrilogy? Tetris DS? Animal Crossing? Warioware Touched?Kirby: Super Star Ultra?
After that, you'll need more help from other users.

I have played all of them except Kirby: Super Star Ultra. What's that like? I played Canvas Curse and disliked the level design very much.

Its almost nothing like Canvas Curse. Kirby is a sidescrolling action platformer (like Mario or Metroid etc) where the main mechanic is sucking up characters to take their powers, and using those powers against them (ala Super Smash Brothers).

Played Kirby today and decided it wasn't for me. Should have known, since I very rarely had fun with action sidescroll-platforming.
Scribblenauts and Layton 2 cannot come soon enough. : /

I think I found my game in Henry Hatsworth.
Neither the platforming nor the puzzle parts are very... good, but it's just incredibly charming, and, well. Jolly.

I fear that the presentation and the fun and clever blending of both subgames will lose their appeal very quickly, but until then, I will continue to help Sir Hatsworth in his quest to become the best-dressed gentleman of the world. Also, the villain's name is Leopold Charles Anthony Weasleby the Third. Yes.

I'm glad you found something. I'll keep looking for games you may enjoy

Prepare to be made FUROUSLY ANGRY by that game my friend. It goes from "Casual platforming adventure to" "Here comes the megaman 1 rape switch" in a flash.

I hope so, fallen. I'm not too far in now - Second level in the second stage, the sky stage - and I feel that letting the puzzle screen fill up and then working it down solves every problem, as you're showered with hearts and power-ups, AND the robot suit.

The lack of challenge in the puzzle mode - where no thinking is required, really - is quite off-putting. A few gears up in difficulty is very welcome now.

But you know what really grinds my gears? The levels are too long for a handheld game. A handheld game should never, ever create situations where I lose 10-15 minutes (or more) of game progress because I have to turn the console off and cannot save. There are checkpoints in each level, and having your progress saved even in case of a power-off would have been easy to implement. That's annoying. Rule #1 of handheld gaming: The game should be playable in 5-minute-bursts.

Still a great game, though.

Yeah meow. Its really enjoyable, but I found that too, theyre all REALLY REALLY long. Some levels are up to 20 minutes where I'm up to (World 3 out of 5?!) and its just SO HARD. Really makes me anrgy, and I know ive rage quitted a lot.

My choice is Order of Ecclesia, but if it has to be one of those two, probably DOS. POR felt a little gimicky to me at certain points, though its certainly worth playing as well

Not in the slightest. Its my favorite in the entire series. I can see how someone who is a fan of the castle could be dissapointed though, since some of the game takes place outside Draculas lair

I used to beat Castlevania on my DS NES emulator on my university lecture break. I think I'm ready to go outside :P

I'm interested in finding out whether or not people think the pictures I added to the OP are helpful or not. If not, I'll remove them, but if people do like them, I may add them to the second tier, and maybe even the niche games eventually

I like the images.  It gives a post more meaning.   I was going to use them with my Looking Back series, but there would have too many.

You need an image of the other Advance Wars game.

I vote for the addition of Geometry Wars: Galaxies. I picked it up for $10.00 brand new and have gotten a ton of use out of it. It's a great time killer/podcast listenin' game.
