Nintendo was founded in Kyoto, Japan in 1889 as a manufacturer of hanafuda playing cards. The company went through several small niche businesses before becoming a video game company.
Because the Wii has all the GameCube library and many of the NES, SNES and N64 classics (though, admittedly it should have had many more by now), as well as classics of opposing companies with Genesis titles and other similar releases, on top of its own quality titles? Maybe?
Gamecube has a place in my heart, but it also had me really annoyed as I loved the 64 and had faith that the cube would be just as good...but there simply weren't enough games.
That's tough, but I have to say the 64. Oot, Mario64, and Goldeneye were too good to be true. But the SNES, and the NES, of course, were amazing in their day, as well. Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger are still some of my favorites. I'd say the NES, because it was such a revelation when I was a kid and what I really started gaming on, but most of the games haven't aged well. They're still fun for nostalgic purposes, but usually not much more. 64 it is.

Nintendo consoles have been couch multiplayer consoles for me and my family. Since the GameCube Mario Kart is *the* *best* Mario Kart, I voted for the GameCube...the black GameCube, not the purple one (the worst Nintendo console). :D

The thing about the wii is yes it can emulate nes and snes games (among others) but its not and snes or nes. There was something magical about holding the square/bone shaped controllers in your hand, sitting in front of the tv...Oh god its so beautiful it makes me want to cry.
Remember when Nintedo power and GamePro were pretty much the only games in town? Remember when you rented/bought games cause the box looked cool? Remember the first time you played Super Mario Brothers? How about Super Mario World? Mario Paint? Remember when you had your name on a waiting list at the rental store for Super Mario 2? Remember the first time you played The legend od Zelda? Remember having a room full of friends and having to take turns with all of them because the game was either 1 player only, or 2 players,but only 1 played at a time?
I could go on, but the point is, the NES/SNES saved the gaming industry and was many peoples first gaming consoles. I don't know if I could decide which one was better, but I was a little older and more able to understand what the SNES did for gaming when i was playing it so I voted for that.
It would get mine, but it just can't beat the SNES. the Super Nintendo had arguably the best lineup of games ever. The gamecube had some greats too, as detailed in this amazing, fantastic, beautiful list, but it just can't compare to Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario World, Link to the Past, Chrono Trigger, and all the other classics.
But the SNES was flooded with shovelware and terrible movie adaptions, had really bad third party support and even many of the Nintendo published/developed games were kind of bad!
Maybe its because when I have so many games on my SNES I can't appreciate any particular one much and therefore the console as a whole, but the Gamecube is awesome.

Just like the PS1, PS2, and the Wii. Just because of the bad games doesn't mean the good games suck. You always remember the good games, not the bad ones.

I think his point is that people dog on the Wii for having those things but forget about all the shovelware with other consoles.

Yeah, that was the point. The Wii has more quality and highly rated games in its first three years than any other Nintendo consoles had in theirs except the Cube.
Now I too think the SNES was absolutely awesome. But so is the Wii. :D

It's all relative. For me, I enjoyed the first 3 years of the SNES immensely more than I did the wiil. You can't really compare though, totally different game types.

Now that you mention it super metroid is my favorite game of all time
N64 definitely , i had alot of fun times playing the SNES with family but the N64 just had the biggest Impact on me. I know alot of people think OOT is mentioned to often but that game just left me speechless when i finished it.
