I still care about the console 3d Mario platformers and Zelda games and Fire Emblem (although I wish they'd release them on something other than handhelds. grrrr.... I gave up caring about handhelds long ago), and the Metroid Primes were awesome (although, sadly, they may be no more) and I'd be curious to see any potential new ip they come up with, should they ever choose to do so, and I'll check out some of their other stuff too, occasionally. Like Mario RPG's, or Kirby's Epic Yarn. And of course their classics. For example Earthbound is high up on my shit I need to play list.

But other than that, no. I couldn't care less.

I want to care about Nintendo.

#53 Posted by Redbullet685 (5746 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

No. Not really.

#54 Posted by Levio (1409 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

I care when they try something new, but I've grown apathetic toward their main IPs save for Smash and Galaxy.

nope

I have a bigger spot in my heart for nintendo than I have reserved for people

#57 Posted by MariachiMacabre (5388 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

I continue to love their core franchises, so yes.

#58 Posted by Phatmac (5266 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

Yes. They still make the best games out there.

#59 Posted by mosespippy (2610 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

Nope, but I never did in the first place.

#60 Posted by IrrelevantJohn (521 posts) - 5 months, 16 days ago

I like that Nintendo is around still but they have yet to convince me to come back. All I want is a good Zelda game with no waggle control. I wouldn't mind if it uses the WiiU gamepad's touch screen though.

I care about Nintendo for video games, because I think they keep good (and sometimes bad) aspects alive that end up dying out on other consoles. As long as it is Nintendo doing that, my expectation is that they will be able to have some level of success going forward. It does feel like there hardware would eventually be more suited as accessories to other consoles, but so far I think they've kept things interesting.

And when new game fads come along, Nintendo will at least reliably do something different (not necessarily vastly better, but they are not going to jump off the same cliff as MS and Sony). In terms of both game mechanics and business models.

Nintendo hasn't been relevant since the N64. There's nothing I care less about than Nintendo...

#63 Posted by Carryboy (414 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Yeh i do, the galaxy games would be in my top 10 of all time.

More often than not, I am bored with that company, but they still have a few good properties. But, I don't think anyone argues that they don't put effort into their games, interesting material or not.

Nintendo is terrible. To play a Nintendo system means you have to like the same games everyone else likes, the Marios, Zelda, Pokemons, etc. If I dont like those things it feels to me like I have no business playing their system. Meanwhile Nintendo get more and more successful while other platforms lose money. I can't in good conscience purchase a Nintendo system anymore, it would be like i'm patting them on the back for nothing. "hey pal, you know nothing about me and dont speak to me... so I'm giving you money because some chumpy third party made a game on it out of desperation."

Much less than I did at one time, but absolutely. Nintendo games were a big part of my childhood and teenage years, and nothing's ever going to change that. On top of that, even if I haven't had as much fun with them in recent years, I do still care about franchises like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros., and so on, and I think it looks like they're doing some great stuff with the new Pikmin and Luigi's Mansion.

Haven't cared since the N64...and didn't even care that much then, with the exception of Golden Eye (which a cared a fuck-ton about!).

#68 Posted by aquamarin (550 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Nah.

#69 Posted by Vinny_Says (5172 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Why don't they just make like Ocarina again but....good?

Seriously it's time to bring something to the table as revolutionary as Ocarina and Mario 64 to make me care.

Yes.

#72 Posted by Lazlow (79 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

I grew up with SNES and N64 so yeah I still care about them. Since Skyward Sword though and how lackluster I personally found it I feel Nintendo has lost some of its "magic". Guess I'm just getting older.

#73 Posted by Sparky_Buzzsaw (4922 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Their hardware? Not so much. Their games? Fuck yes. Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and the Zelda games alone warranted my Wii, not to mention the countless hours and good times I've had with my family playing Wii Sports.

Yep

#75 Posted by MEATBALL (1991 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Yup, I still care. I bought a launch WiiU because I still care about Nintendo's games. I haven't really enjoyed any previous NSMB games, but NSMBU has proven to be something special, I think. Kid Icarus Uprising was great. Skyward Sword was incredible. Nintendo still release games that I want to play and really enjoy playing. When buying a Nintendo system I actually feel more secure in my purchase than with others purely because I know that the system will deliver great Nintendo games.

I wish Nintendo would just go into game development for other consoles.

And effectively license the use of their games on the consoles. So Microsoft etc have to pay a fixed amount before any sales happen.

#77 Posted by Cold_Wolven (1704 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

I really only care about their Legend of Zelda franchise, my love for anything else has been dying down since the beginning of this generation. I use to go bananas for anything Mario but with the release of the 360 and PS3 my tastes in games has changed.

#78 Edited by GunstarRed (4037 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

I question a lot of their decisions, but I care more about Nintendo now than I did during the majority of the Wii's life. I think both the DS and the 3DS are wonderful things and going back to the Wii at the end of it's life seems like the absolute best time to experience the system as it has a bunch of really high quality games, most of which are made by Nintendo.

I think Skyward Sword, Kid Icarus and Mario 3D land are some of the best games I have ever played.

#79 Posted by billyhoush (1045 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

No. I'm done.

#80 Posted by GS_Dan (1241 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

No, and Wind Waker is my favourite game I've played :|

#81 Posted by damswedon (3091 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

No. I don't have any nostalgia for Nintendo, because around where I lived the only people who had an N64 were those who couldn't afford a Playstation, and before then you either had a Mega Drive, a ZX Spectrum, or a Commodore 64. Pokemon is really the only franchise they still have that I even bother with and even that is more a case of I buy the new one because that is just what I do and I'm part of the problem.

#82 Posted by Stonyman65 (1807 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Haven't cared since the Gamecube, and even then it was only for certain things. Haven't really given a shit about a Nintendo property or release since the N64, honestly. I've just moved on from the whole platformer/kiddie/minigame thing. That was cool back when I was 10, but now I'm into more "mature" (both in story and content) games.

#83 Posted by envane (1079 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

i still care but china dont

#84 Edited by Gruff182 (751 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Nope.

They need to get out of the hardware business, or at least home consoles anyway. I don't know how many second chances people are willing to give them, but they're past it.

They make great games but don't have a clue about modern hardware. Buying the new 'Mario' machine is dumb, I'd pick up the new Mario or Zelda on a relevant console. I've less than no interest, in a Wii or WiiU.

And you shouldn't buy a new piece of Hardware based on it's possible future potential.

Plus, I think if they do keep on like this, they'll just destroy themselves.

#85 Posted by dcgc (823 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

If I care about their original IP's? Not anymore (it's always the same thing). If I care about some titles that are released on Nintendo platforms? Yes.

#86 Posted by Winternet (7351 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

If it was drowning on a not-that-menacing-looking river I'd jump in to save Nintendo, but that's as far as I'd go.

#87 Posted by punkxblaze (2429 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Let me flip this shit and ask a slightly altered question: Does Nintendo still care about us?

They claim to, obviously, and they seem to be embracing a return to the 'hardcore' (I hate that phrase) with the WiiU, but at the same time they're showing blatant signs of not really paying attention to anything anyone says or wants out of them. I mean, I get it, they're innovating and doing their own thing! And that's great, but there's a really thin line between being the rebel and doing your own thing, and sitting there with your fingers in your ears going LALALA WE CAN'T HEAR YOU, REST OF THE INDUSTRY'S STANDARDS AND DEMANDS.

Nintendo strikes me as doing the latter.

I'm sorry, I went way off topic with that little rant. I want to care about Nintendo. I really do. I love a lot of their franchises dearly. Not the rehashing they've taken to delivering, but the more interesting entries in those franchises. Super Mario 64, Windwaker, Metroid Prime, etc. The ones where they truly instilled a sense of innovation, not just HEY HERE'S MARIO BUT HE'S HD NOW. I want to care about Nintendo, but I'm having a really damn hard time doing it lately.

#88 Posted by MooseyMcMan (8564 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Of course.

#89 Posted by incapacitated (10 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Nope. Not this generation or the last. They've gone to the place Sega has... love the old stuff, couldn't give a crap about the current stuff.

#90 Posted by BulletproofMonk (2660 posts) - 5 months, 15 days ago

Not really, no.

#91 Posted by nintendork666 (141 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Yes, and I still care about Sega too. Not very interested in the Wii U yet, however. Although I'm quite excited to see what Monolith Soft develops for the console.

#92 Posted by JJOR64 (18132 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Yep. Got me a Wii U and I'm enjoying it.

#93 Posted by xMEGADETHxSLY (455 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

NO

#94 Posted by Village_Guy (2099 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Well, not really no, but I haven't ever been a big Nintendo fan anyway - so I do as China neither of us care.

#95 Posted by tysonwritesel (48 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Nintendo will always have piece of my heart but that doesn't mean I bow to them on everything they do or hardly anything for that matter.

#96 Posted by Hector (3207 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Yep, gonna wait a while till more games come out for the WiiU. As for now I enjoy playing games on my Wii and 3DS. Can't wait for Fire Emblem: Awakening!

How many more heart pieces do they need to increase their health?
#98 Posted by Cerevisiae (70 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

Yeah, I do. I'm 25, but still love their first-party games. PC and Wii are a pretty great combination.

#99 Edited by jonnyboy (2912 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

I'm in my 30's, I'm not their demographic and frankly if they're trying to prove otherwise, sloppy current gen ports aren't going to change my mind any time soon.

#100 Posted by President_Barackbar (3153 posts) - 5 months, 8 days ago

I never owned Nintendo systems growing up (outside of a few of the handhelds when I was younger), so Nintendo was never a part of my childhood. As a result, I've been able to see Nintendo's repeated trotting out of their tired franchises as boring for a while now.
