E3 2009 - Nintendo Press Conference Discussion

#1 Edited by Hamz (6846 posts) -

Winning banner by Twilight, congratulations!

Welcome to the Nintendo E3 2009 Press Conference Sticky!

Ladies & gentlemen E3 2009 is upon us and as always that means the 'big three' will be having their traditional conferences for our viewing pleasure. So to make things a little easier for everyone we've created a sticky to cover each conference. In this sticky we ask that the community come here to discuss their general opinions, thoughts and feelings on the Nintendo press conference.

Keep Discussion On-Topic!

  • This sticky is created solely to discuss the Nintendo press conference. So please keep discussion about the other two conferences contained to their respective stickied topics.
  • Try to keep discussion on-topic at all times. If you want to discuss what you had for breakfast with another user then do so via PM or wall comments. If you want to express your like / dislike / other opinions about the Nintendo press conference then do it in here.

Specific Announcements!

E3 always brings with it numerous new announcements, some mind blowing and others soul crushing, and we understand some people will only want to discuss one particular announcement made during the conferences. So if you want to discuss a specific announcement made during the Nintendo press conference then we urge you to create a topic about it within the relevant page in our Wiki Database. Below is a simple example detailing the steps to help you figure out how!

  1. In the top right hand corner of your screen you'll see the search bar. Type in the name of the game, platform, company etc the announcement is relevant too and click the page you're looking for in the drop down menu.
  2. Once you've loaded the relevant page. Look to your left and locate the 'Forum' tab in the list of tabs. This will take you to that page's specific board.
  3. Look to your right and click the red 'New Topic' button and you're ready to create a new topic!

Please refrain from dumping topics about a Wii game in that particular platform's board. Try and create the topic in the game's specific board and if you cannot find a page, then how about creating one? That way you'll help expand the site's database, help inform the community and grab yourself a few extra points as well :D !

Game Forums

Rules & Guidelines

As usual the site rules apply, even during E3 shenanigans, so please if you are not familiar with them by now head on over to the

Defusing the Bomb

sticky and read the

Forum FAQ

guide and make sure you memorise those guidelines and rules laid out within it.

As well as forum specific rules and guidelines it would also be worth everyone's time to sit down and read through the

Wiki FAQ

guide and make yourself familiar with how the system works. As I'm sure a large number of you will likely want to begin editing new information into the Wiki Database as said information becomes available during E3.

I have a good feeling about this conference. Probably because nothing can be worse than Microsoft's conference. And no, I have no basis for saying this.

#7 Posted by Red (5995 posts) -

I really don't know what I want from Nintendo. Maybe some more cool retro DS games?

The page states "You must be 17 or older to view this press conference.", which is interesting. Guess we'll be seeing some 'mature' games. "
Microsoft's conference had mature games and I don't remember that being there.

If I've learned anything over the last THREE Nintendo press conferences it's not to expect anything of real substance from Nintendo.

That and lots of bragging, pie charts, and sales numbers. Hopefully Cameron isn't sitting in the audience.

The 2006 one was pretty great.

The pressure is on Nintendo to deliver, they know they have to appease their hardcore fraction including me. I am very confident they will do, and expect at least two huge surprises, two games that are completely off the radar for many fans.

Pikmin 3 has got to be shown, Kid Icarus I think will also be shown unless Nintendo have decided to rework the game for a wider audience. I strongly believe the game was passed back to Nintendo by Factor 5 some time ago.

Tokyo EAD have been working on a game in conjunction with Miyamoto, it's really hard to speculate on what it could be, but if I had to throw up some ideas, it would be: Yoshi's Island Wii / Super Mario World 3.  Alternatively, a new Donkey Kong platformer, seeing as though it's been a long while now. Lastly I would say, Super Mario Galaxy 2 or a new Super Mario World Wii, which would basically be Super Mario Galaxy rooted on the ground in Mario's World.

On DSIWare, I would hope there is truth to the long rumoured 2D Zelda Trilogy, that would be a nice addition to Spirit Tracks. Also a new Super Mario Bros game on DS, because that's certainly long in the coming.

The last game they will show is Zelda I reckon, cos it's the perfect cherry on top. :)

Yea, 2006 was the last conference Nintendo still had a small amount of care for the GiantBomb demographic.

That milf Cammie Dunaway had better be on stage to turn me on.

#28 Posted by StarFoxA (5149 posts) -

The Nintendo fanboy in me is hoping, praying for some actual news to come out of this conference.

#29 Posted by Spiritof (2036 posts) -

Actually, with Dragon Quest X Nintendo could do something with the Wii to make me very happy. Turn it into my go-to machine for JRPGs. The DS is my system for those games now, it would be nice to have that at home too (besides the fading PS2).

The age limit on gamespot for watching this conference is 17, NAKED WOMANZ?!?!? :D
I hope Nintendo makes my jaw drop.

After last years event I am more confident about this E3 than ever ever before, I have had a feeling we are going to see something really special for a few months now.

It's starting very soon now...

It's slim but it could happen.... If it is in the works, it's definitely not SEGA made, I can tell you that much. Miyamoto disliked SEGA's game and the direction it took..

#42 Posted by Vinchenzo (6192 posts) -

Oh no. It's turtle girl. :(

#43 Posted by Drebin_893 (2911 posts) -

Maybe you've realised.... No one watching cares about those things, and some lament you for doing such a thing.
