Isn't 2014 Nintendo's Quasquicentennial = 125th anniversary? They started in 1889, so this year is 125 years later. Centennial goals and quarter centennial goals are not recognized in the same way in Japanese culture, but I think it is a nice accomplishment for any corporation to evolve and change and yet still be there.

Maybe, it is not so odd that 2014 will be a year where Nintendo needs to do a lot of soul searching. I wish this year could have been one of celebration and joy for Nintendo, but it seems like it will be one of introspection and change. This year could decide if Nintendo has another 5 years, 25 years, or 125 years.

Time to get back to that hot trading card market.
