A shy kappa (a type of turtle-like humanoid monster from Japanese folklore) who lives on the Youkai Mountain, Nitori tries to turn the heroine away from the dangers of the mountain in Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith, however she was defeated. She is an engineer who carries tools in her backpack, and in the many pockets which line the hem of her dress. Nitori makes the cameras used by tengu like Aya Shameimaru.
Unlike the depictions of kappas in stories, Nitori is very friendly to humans, but often overcome by her shyness. She tries to turn the heroine away from the dangers of the Youkai Mountain, but is defeated. She wants to be friends with humans like Marisa, but doesn't know how to do so.
