    Overview

A non-linear plot is a storyline that is not told in a fixed fashion from start to finish. The player may engage in story events in an order of his or her choosing, and/or skip certain story sections entirely. Such stories may take place in an open world that allows the player to pursue story objectives in a player-chosen order. Other games may offer a similar story construct through a level select of some sort that allows the player to choose the order in which the game's stages are tackled.
