The region explored in the third generation of Pokémon. Hoenn was designed from the get-go to have 50% land and 50% water, a first for the series, in order to follow the story or Groudon and Kyogre.
The Setting for the second generation of Pokemon (Gold, Silver, Crystal). This region is home to 100 new and exclusive Pokemon that did not appear in the original Versions. This is also the setting of Pokemon anime seasons 3-5.

Sinnoh is the region in which players play in the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum games and is the setting of Pokemon anime seasons 10-13.
