Omega Weapon is a super-boss within the Final Fantasy franchise. It's first appearance was in Final Fantasy V, and it has since appeared in every game within the series, either originally or within a remake, with the exception of Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy VII.

Appearances

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

The Omega weapon plays a huge part in Final fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus. It was designed to annihilate Gaia when it became too damaged, then restart life elsewhere. It would draw energy from the lifestream, launch into space, and become a new planet, leaving Gaia to die.

In Dirge of Cerberus, Omega is searched for by a team, known as the Tsviets, that plans to kill enough people to convince the planet it is dying. The insane professor Hojo controls the only body strong enough to merge with Omega (Weiss, leader of the Tsviets,) and he succeeds in combining the two powers. Vincent Valentine was able to destroy the force with his Chaos form, saving Gaia.

FFVIII

Omega Weapon is considered VIII's most difficult boss. To fight it, one team must ring a bell to start a time, while another searches for Omega before the timer run's out. A victory earns you the "Proof of Omega", which allows you to show off your accomplishment. It's special attacks are Swipe, Lv5 Death, Megido Flame, Terra Break and Light Pillar.

FFX

Once a monk, Omega was exiled to dark ruins, which would eventually be named for him. In his rage he created a weaker version of himself, the Ultimate Weapon. Omega Weapon has 99,999 HP in the

Japanese and North American versions, but 999,999 HP in the European version. It has 3 special attacks, Core energy, Shimmering rain and Nova. Kimahri can learn Nova from Omega Weapon.

FFX-2

Omega Weapon in FFX-2 is the weakest weapon in the franchise. A simple random encounter adversary, this Omega Weapon is not particularly difficult to defeat.

FFXII

The Omega Mark XII  can be fought in the Great Crystal at Giruvegan, after you accept the mark for Yiazmat. After you defeat it, Omega leaves behind the Omega Badge, which can eventually lead you to unlocking the Wyrmhero Blade, one of the game's strongest weapons.

Omega has a little more than 10,000,000 HP in the Japanese Version, but only 1,000,000 in the North American and PAL versions. It has the berserk status in the North American and PAL versions.

The Primer's description goes as followed:

Genus: Unclassified
Classification: Ancient Warmech

An ancient weapon of war, traveling the rifts between dimensions. Its body is set with machineries and weaponry of a far higher order than anything made today. Though it is a construct, it was built with the ability to grow, and so it has evolved like a living creature. It generates the energy it needs to live by filtering and condensing Mist from the air.
