    Overview

    Grand Battle! was the first game in the series of chibi-styled fighting games based on the One Piece manga/anime franchise. This was also the first One Piece game to be released outside of Japan, coming to Europe in 2003. Due to the fact that neither the manga or the anime had been officially translated yet at the time, it was never released in English-speaking territories.

    Gameplay

    Matches in Grand Battle are 1 on 1 fights with 3D character models in a 2D arena. Each character has a unique moveset, as well as Support Characters which they can summon for a brief period of time to aid in battle. The stages themselves typically have their own hazards as well as items with various effects, such as healing the user or stunning the opponent if thrown at them.

    Story

    Grand Battle's story mode generally follows the plot of the manga/anime series from the beginning to the Whiskey Peak arc. The storytelling mostly consists of text based dialogue scenes followed by actual battles.
