    Overview

The Luger P08 9mm Parabellum, is a German made pistol first adopted by the German Army in 1908, It saw extensive use during World War I. It was intended to be phased out by the Walther P38, though was still relatively common among Nazi officers. The Luger is an accurate pistol but it is difficult to maintain in battlefield conditions and was labour intensive to produce. The Luger P08 was seen among American GIs as being a badge of the experienced soldier, and as such was a highly-valued trophy among them. In present times, the Luger P08 is extremely valuable, and they are difficult to find.

The Luger P1908, as it is also called, was designed by Georg Luger, and the feature most gamers recognise first is the toggle at the top, which bounces up when the gun is fired.

The Luger P08 is a low powered sidearm that appears in Call of Duty 2. It is quite uncommon, and is only found on the bodies of deceased Nazis. It does not boast extremely high damage, and visually is identical to the model used in both Call of Duty and Call of Duty: United Offensive. It is not an ideal secondary weapon, and should be approached mainly as a 'last resort' weapon. Players should not rely on the Luger during difficult situations, as almost all of the primary weapons available are superior.

The Luger boasts an eight round magazine, though this is offset by the distinctive 'toggle', which bounces up and down with each shot fired. This toggle can prove to put users at a disadvantage, as it momentarily obscures vision and leaves a user vulnerable as they attempt to find their target again.

    Hitman: Codename 47

During Hitman: Codename 47, the Luger P08 can only be found once. It can be found during the mission ' Traditions of the Trade', in which you must eliminate Franz Fuchs. Inside Fuchs' hotel room lies a silenced Luger P08 pistol on a chest of drawers. The toggle on the pistol does not actually move when it is firing, but Codename 47 was released in 2000, and it is likely that computers could not display this kind of minor detail.
