Early in WW2, Germans captured upwards of 1,300 Soviet 76mm F-22 guns. They converted these guns into what became known as the Pak 36R, an anti-tank gun that filled the role until the Pak 40 came into service. Despite being a stopgap measure, Pak 36R guns remained in service until the end of the war.
