    Overview

Panic in Nakayoshi World is a 1994 Super Famicom puzzle game. The player controls one (or one pair in two-player mode) of characters from either Sailor Moon, Goldfish Warning!, Chou Kuse ni Nariso ("I'll Make a Habit of It") or Kurumi to 7 Ninnokobitotachi ("Kurumi and the 7 Dwarves") - who collectively represent the Japanese shoujo (young girl's) serial manga magazine and game's namesake Nakayoshi ("Good Friend"). The game uses a top-down perspective and contains modes for both competitive and co-op two-player.

Panic in Nakayoshi World did not receive an official localization but it did receive a fan translation in 2000.

    Gameplay

The goal is to save various VIPs from the Nakayoshi multiverse from harm by defeating enemies on their behalf and escorting them to the exit once it appears. The player character can shoot creatures and blocks - destroying the latter reveals power-ups similar to Bomberman - and must defeat ten of the fifteen monsters that spawn before any of them reach the VIP character. At this point the door opens that the player can escort the hostage to, or they can defeat the remaining five enemies to end the stage instantly. If the VIP or the player character gets hit by an enemy projectile (the VIP can also get hit by the player's projectiles), they'll either slow down or lose the ability to shoot. If the VIP gets touched by an enemy, the player must restart the stage.

Each of the four worlds contain six stages: the first four are standard stages that require that the player(s) escort the VIP character to the exit. The fifth is a special bonus stage in which the player(s) can earn power-ups and extra lives by destroying blocks of chocolate within a short time limit. The sixth and final is a boss fight. The hostage does not follow the player(s) to these final two stages.
