Why should you detain people? (Also another question)

Is there any reason to detain people? Just sending them away is much faster and gives you more time, since time continues to run while the guy is escorted away. I guess that's because it's a Beta or am I missing something?

Also (since I don't want to open another thread about that) sometimes you have to scan the fingerprints of people right? Even if they match I get an error-message if I let them in, is this a bug?

Not sure about the fingerprints. From what I've seen, unless it lists a known alias on the bottom of the sheet generated by the fingerprints that matches their documentation, you should turn them away.

Detaining people does mean you don't have to bother giving all their documents back, not sure if that makes a noticable time difference though.

@danhammett: pretty sure that one of the dodgy guys that I just sent away reacted "badly" to it. So probably would have been best to detain him as it ended the day. Could be confusing that with someone I sent through though

The one that prints out isn't the same card you give the person. You have to compare the prints they give you (look at your tray) to the printout. It took me a little bit to realize that.

Keep in mind that Ravenlight's post is 3 months old, and what he said was based on what was included in the free demo. The free demo A) doesn't go very long, and didn't reach the point where they start giving you comparison fingerprints, so all that mattered from the fingerprint sheet was whether the name matched, and B) never gave you any monetary reward for detaining people, so it was basically always more efficient to just deny those people.
