The main female protagonist in Earthbound. A gifted PSI user, she learns many powerful attack and support PSI abilities and fights with a frying pan.
Overview
Paula Polestar, first appeared in the 1995 release of the SNES game Earthbound. She is the first companion to permanently join Ness on his journey. Paula is a Twoson native, who works at her family run “Polestar Preschool.” Paula's sexist design is characteristic of the 1990's female protagonists in videogames, as evident in her main weapon, a frying pan. She also serves as the game's most kidnapped character, despite her extraordinarily strong PK attacks.
Perhaps in self aware defiance against the sexism imposed upon her, Paul shatters the glass ceiling by inciting the mass prayer that ultimately delivers the coup de grâce to Giygas, the end boss.
