Everyone who made it out to the PAX meetup last night, come into this thread and let's look back.
Motherfucker who kept buying Creed songs on the jukebox: I know you're reading this. I haven't forgotten. I'm coming for you.
PAX East 2011
Concept »
The second annual PAX East took place at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston, Massachusetts on March 11-13, 2011.
Giant Bomb PAX Party: A Retrospective
My hearing must be even more awful than I thought, as I almost never paid attention to the songs that were playing. I was too busy trying to hear people talk over it. Still, shame on Creed guy.
Still, great to talk to everyone, staff and users alike. This party was clearly the highlight of PAX East for me, especially as the crowding issue died down.
EDIT: Oh, right, and I was the asshole who couldn't think of much to talk about in the tan Dodge hat. Just for the record.
EDIT EDIT: I also can't remember if I was wearing my tan hat or not. That's how great that night was, forgetting details like that. Regardless, I was the guy with the grey hoodie and the member's shirt. If you talked to me, you probably knew who I was anyways.
Man, that bartender. Hardest working man in showbusiness." Just say Magician, you'll be fine. "
"Okay, I'm sorry in advance. I need 2 Irish Carbombs, 2 straight guinesses, 1 Black Velvet on Magician. I need 3 Harpoons, another black velvet and a whiskey sour on Nicholas. Oh wait! FUCK! I also need a fuzzle navel on Magician. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T HAVE THE STUFF FOR A FUZZLE NAVEL!"
Amazing fun. I'll post pictures as soon as I get them.
Ryan was punching me and then hugging me and then I don't know what happened.
All in all, a fucking great night. Met everyone from GB, was convince by dave that magician was infact a codeword and he was not fucking with us, argued about build orders with brad, told drew I loved him for the third time that weekend. Met a ton of awesome members and listened to way too much creed.
Thanks guys. Dave, you are my hero.
Way way way too much Creed. Oh, and walking back to Copley from Government Center is NOT a good idea, especially in that ...state of mind... thanks to Magician. :P
Can't wait to see the pictures, the party was awesome.

Oh, and walking back to Copley from Government Center is NOT a good idea, especially in that ...state of mind... thanks to Magician. :PTo be fair it was nigh impossible to get a hold of a bartender that night. I gave up on being polite about half way through the night when it was taking 20 minutes to get a drink and started standing on the foot rest pool that runs along the bar to make my short self stand out. It worked.

I wasn't in a drinkin' mood so I opted for the concerts, but now I am filled with second guessing. Next time, I'll be there!
Finally, someone understands... I felt bad for the regulars that found their home away from home full to capacity and blasting creed all night.Yeah, my favorite part of the night was totally standing outside watching the regulars looking at the insanity going on around them and thinking "What. The. Fuck?"
I think the best part of the night for me, was getting Dave to pick a drink for me and him handing me a Makers Mark on the rocks. Did I mention that I got quite drunk on saturday? Sucha great time I can not wait till next year!
This meetup was my highlight of PAX East as well. All the giant bomb guys are cool as hell. I got to talk Mortal Kombat with Jeff; Why the PC is awesome with Dave; movies with Alex; Korea w/Brad; and Ryan Davis kept stealing my hat (hope he didn't catch cooties - his fault, though :P).
Those guys were great, they were very accessible and talked with everyone (even those who were hammered, like myself!) I can't thank GB enough for throwing that meet up. I'll write up a blog post when I get time.
Also some cool stuff that happend: as mentioned above Jeff Green was there as well as Anthony Gallegos from IGN/Rebel FM. Those guys were awesome too. I got to talk motorcycles with Jeff and bugged poor Anthony who wasn't drinking - ha!
And a shout out to all the kick ass Giant Bomb fans I met there that night. Everyone was awesome, it was almost like a party where everyone knew each other.
I'll tell ya what, if i was local I'd drink there!
" It was that asshole in the buffalo shirt, man i hate that guy way too much creed and not enough nickleback! "Yeah, I wonder who that dude was OH WAIT
ban this fucker

Well, those pics confirm I was wearing my hat at the time, looking at myself in about three shots or so. Couldn't remember if I was covering for a bad hair day before or after the drinking.
Next year, I think I'm going to wear something with my avatar "spinner" on it, just to reach full levels of nerdiness. I'll also try reaching out and starting more conversations with random users! I can talk about stuff other than the site and racing, I swear.
I swear.

Even after the tab ran dry, I still spent 50 bucks. I forgot to take pictures. I don't remember how I got home. I missed Sunday's events because of it. It was well worth it. Great fuckin' time.
This isn't related to the party but I just uploaded my other PAX East pics. http://www.giantbomb.com/profile/matt/pax-east-2011/52-533797/

Something has stuck with me from the meet-up -
I am a drinker.
I went to small, cold-weather liberal arts college in the rural Northeast. We did a lot of drinking.
I was a member of several student groups and in a fraternity. I had "bros". We had events which focused on binge drinking and parties at which binge drinking occurred.
I was social. I went out and met people. A lot of drinking in houses, bars, parks occurred.
I am a grown-up. I drink my painful days and memories away.
The point is, I have done a lot of drinking, I have seen a lot of drinking, and I have know many depraved drinkers. I have never, ever seen something like what I witnessed on Saturday night.
I put a half-full beer down on the bar, because I realized that I was getting close to the point of having to drive home, and needed to draw the line. Another merry-maker remarked in surprise that I was leaving it, and I told him I was driving.
He asked if he could have my beer.
"I've drank from it", I said, confused.
"It's OK" he said, and smiled, carrying off his prize like it was a foundling puppy, and not a stranger's lukewarm half- pint. I watched him go without further words, and mulled the event the whole way home, and well after.
To that young man, I say, "Huzzah and Bravo to you!"
Oh, and I have a cold sore, so, sorry.
