Your Green Light is On

PAX East 2013 was the fourth PAX since the advent of StreetPassing. Honestly, I didn't pay quite as much attention to it this year, only milking those Miis for puzzle pieces whenever I had down time in a line or something. But, even so, I still ended up with over 400 StreetPasses and finished all the puzzles including the Luigi's Mansion one that got released sometime Friday night. Even after four PAX's and over 1800 Miis, I'm still missing seven hats in Find Mii. And, I've come to the conclusion that absolutely no one lives in Wyoming.

I wasn't sure if I was even going to do a blog like this again, but then my flight home got delayed over four hours, and I just decided to try and get all the raw data into a spreadsheet while I waited. So, let's look at some dumb numbers.

It's Raining Cats & Dogs

Aside from being able to tell if a Mii is male or female, StreetPass also reveals some info about the person (assuming they provide it in their profile), and one of those stats is if the person prefers cats or dogs more. So, here's a breakdown of the gender population at PAX along with what type of pets they prefer.

The notion that men like dogs and women like cats has held true every time I've done this.

Locations

As you would expect, Massachusetts had the biggest turnout of any region. But, aside from Connecticut, almost no one else came from New England. More people came from Japan than Maine.

Last Played

StreetPassing with someone will also reveal the last thing that person has played. This includes not just games, but also any apps on the system. Here are the top ten most popular games and apps at PAX East 2013. Keep in mind that Luigi's Mansion didn't even come out til Sunday. Nintendo was selling it on Saturday at their booth, but it's still kind of impressive that it got up to #3 on the list.

The "Plaza" field is the number of unique Miis in that person's StreetPass plaza.

I admit streetpassing with you five times was a bit much, but I swear I wasn't stalking. I was mostly just following from afar.

I had 327 Streetpasses that weekend. I remember when I street passed with you in the CAH line, I went hey that is Marino.

Of all the street passes I got this year, I'm surprised I'm not up there on that list.

I did street pass with Brad on the line for Divekick, though.

@morbid_coffee: It's not too surprising. There's so many 3DS's in a small area that you fill up 10 people within seconds sometimes. So, unless you're clearing it out constantly, you're probably going to miss a lot of people. Cool that you got Brad though. I don't think I have his Mii. I got Ryan and Patrick last year though.

@daveyo520: Were you purposefully keeping Link's Awakening as your last played game? Until I picked up Luigi's Mansion on Saturday, I was rocking Baseball for the original Game Boy.

@marino: lol no, just what I was playing. A big favorite of mine from back in the day. I had Game Boys and handhelds way more growing up than consoles. Though most of the time it was Fire Emblem. The real thing I played though was Find Me.

@daveyo520: Yeah, I'm glad that StreetPass Plaza or Find Mii doesn't count as a "last played" game though, because then it would pointless since that's what everyone was doing. I figured Fire Emblem would be the top choice this year, but not in such a dominating fashion.

@marino: Yet it counts Settings. Ya I am pretty sure FE was the number one game I saw. Pokemon Black/White 2 was the second, I think.

@daveyo520: Counting Settings is pretty dumb, yeah. If I had combined White/Black 2, it still would've been fewer than Mario Kart 7. Even though that game is old, it's still probably the best for multiplayer in that sort of environment.

This always makes me jealous because Streetpass is still almost mythical to me.
