What are you using it for? There are different levels of "better". Do you want the laptop that's more powerful or the one less prone to overheating?

The Alienware is only 11.6 in. I dont think that would suffice for gaming. Also, just get the cheaper one. Saves you a few bucks.

im looking more towards more power so I have longer between updates. im looking to play games like Empire total war, Crysis, Mass effect 2.

My major sticking point with the M11X is that it has a fairly weak CPU

Neither of those are good for gaming, unless you're looking to play 5+ year old games. Laptops are not built for gaming, and you're not going to be able to play modern games at high settings without spending over $3,000 on one. Leave the gaming for home is my suggestion, as it is for anyone who intends to buy a laptop for anything more than light gaming.

Edit: though, if you had to pick one it would definitely be the Vaio. Both the graphics chip and the processor are stronger.

Well the alienware was tested with Mass Effect 2 on maxed out settings and got 60FPS which to me sounds right on the money.

Gaming laptop is almost a misnomer. You've have to be running your laptop in 50*F to play Crysis, I'd imagine. Mine is only three years old and the spore creature editor made it overheat.

That's not really true, but I will say that if you can play Mass Effect 2 maxed, it'll only go down from there and fast. it won't take long for newer games to be too powerful for your laptop of choice. I'd recommend a desktop too, but if you're really set on a laptop, the Mx11 does look really good feature wise. That's what I'd go for and it looks really good.

@jams: Cheers dude thats realy helpful. I am almost set on the M11X. I would love to get a Desktop but i travel around alot. Im only ever at my main residence for 6 months of the year so a destop would only have limited use for me.

Well I was just customizing a Mx11 on their site and found out it doesn't come with a CD/DVD drive. You have to get one separate. (I'd recommend on getting one like on newegg instead of their $100 option. They must have needed the space for the graphics. Also when I was customizing I took the CPU from single core to dual core and it upped the price from 795 to  895. Then I added 4 gigs of ram for an extra 50. The last thing I did was bump the 160 5400 rpm to a 250gb 7200rpm because 5400rpm is a real shitty speed and a bottle neck for gaming.

Came out to 995 which isn't bad at all actually. Especially since you can go for the basic stuff for about 800.

Yeah I ordered It today and upped everything about it. I've read that I can overclock the CPU by 20% and it will only increase the heat of it by 1 degree which sounds pretty good to me. mine came out at £900 which isnt too bad.

Asus has the best price-performance laptops, also they have a shitload of models so I can't recommend one right now, need to do some research myself, but check out their laptop selection.

m11x. I ordered on day 1. Can't wait to get it. Ultra portable heaven. I'll have mine in my man bag at PAX if anyone is there and wants to jump me for it.

I've been looking at laptops myself. I'm currently waiting for the ASUS G73JH to come to Canada. You should check it out. The specs look fantastic and the graphics chip is DX11 compatible. Here is a link: http://blogs.zdnet.com/computers/?p=1396
