I know nothing about PC gaming. All I really wanna do is be able to play Valve games on this thing. Would these specs take care of The Orange Box and the original Half-Life?

M11x? From what i heard it can run Mass Effect 2 on high/max settings at above 60fps, not that i've tried it.
Yes, it can definitely run the games you've mentioned. Hell, on the intel graphics card it can run portal, barely.

You also have 8gb there, double mine. It's overkill though. Super mega overkill if all you want is to be able to play valve games. Also, check Tested, they have reviews and videos of it.

If all you want to do is play Valve games then this is more than you need, by far.

Yeah, easy. You'll be able to play all Valve games smoothly on that. You'll probably be safe for upcoming games from them too (Portal 2, Episode 3 ect.).

You can play valve games on a 5 year old computer. I swear 99% of the "can i run it threads" are probably just people wanting to show off specs.  Because most of the time the persons rig is overkill for whatever game they inquire about.

The GPU memory, and memory seem like overkill for that CPU, or is it just me?   That CPU is running at 2 GHz? 1 per core?  Seems really low even for a laptop, but guess I havent looked in years.

This. I have an inferior laptop and it runs source engine games at high settings with 60 fps just fine

Yeah  I can play Portal and CS and that fine (some FPS problems) with my shitty ass laptop that can't even play the Sims 2 without slowdown. So yeah, you're good.

I bet you could get a better desktop for the same amount of money you are paying for that rig. I'd highly recommend it too - but that's up to you.

Desktops are much easier to clean and repair as well...

I made my mind up when I looked at the title: Yes

Looking at the specs confirms my hypothesis.

Everthing looks better than mine, and I play left 4 dead one at 60fps+, you're good.

Well obviously. But if you buy something that is already crazy specs you will not have to worry about upgrading for a few years...

I have had mine for 2 years already - and still do not need to worry about upgrading. But yes you are right - when the time comes it'll be quite simple and I already have a few things in mind.
