Shutdown 4 me.

Are you a "Sleeper" or a "Shutdown-er"
Oh. You're talking about computers! Okay then, that clears that up. In that case, I always shut my computer down.
When I'm done on the computer, I usually just get up and walk away. Since my computer has a sleep mode, that would make me a member of the first group.
my laptop goes to sleep after 45 minutes. Only time I turn it off, is if I'm going to be gone for more than a day which isn't very often.
" I shut down my comp, it only takes about 10 secs to boot into windows anyway. "Ditto
My computer is retarted. Whenever I shut it off and turn it on, I have to disable and then enable the network adapter, because somehow it gets messed up. So sleep for me.
I just let it run.. my screen eventually goes into the screensaver.. but I've turned that sleep shit off.
Kind of a mix, really. If I'm going to school, I'll shut it off, but if I'm going to sleep, then I just put it to sleep.
sleep for when I leave it during the day but know I'm coming back. Shutdown for overnight when I too am sleeping
XP I used to shutdown.
With vista, and no i don't wanna give it any praise, I just let it sleep. It actually reduces wear and tear on your equipment and is much better for the machine in the long run. (not to mention you have zero boot times).
And to the many people saying they can boot Vista / XP in 10 - 15 seconds, LOL what a bunch of liars... Is there a need to exaggerate? No. Boot time for vista or XP is at least 45 seconds, but probably 2 -3 minutes. Yes, you HAVE to count the delayed startup programs, and it doesnt count at the "login screen".
boot time = time OS needs before you can launch a game.
shutdown unless if I know it will be couple hours before I need it again but if I am just going to eat I leave it on.
I've been told Sleep can make things run much slower when you then wake it back up (I use Vista btw) so I've stopped doing that now and anecdotally games seem to cause less problems than they did before.
Well I don't have a crazy power hungry computer. Just a small, but effective, laptop. It doesn't cost a lot(not even a notable increase) for me to just leave it running at all times, infact the surge of power it'd take to start it up every time I'd use it would probably add up to more than the small amount it requires to keep charged. So I'm in that special third group, it is always on, at least for the most part.
neither my computer runs 24/7 most of the time, reboot maybe weekly at most. May shutdown sometime this week to let my Artic Silver 5 settle before my OC this weekend.
Netbook goes to S3 Sleep. Desktop gets shutdown because it would wake up from S3 and the mouse and KB wouldnt work and I didnt want to spend hours/days figuring out how to fix it.
