Yes, I realise they are probably very different games but I've just ordered Left 4 Dead 2 but I'm looking to order another game with it. I'm torn between Borderlands and Resident Evil 5. I've read great things on both of them.. Borderlands seems to have the edge but the graphics for RES5 seems so pretty. What have you guys had the most fun out of ? And which has best single and co op modes ? Thanks.

Borderlands or Resident Evil 5
I hear the PC version of Borderlands isn't terrific. So maybe go with RE5? I personally had more fun playing through RE5 than Borderlands, but that's just me.
I played through RE5 once and really enjoyed it. I played Borderlands for a good 100 hours and never really got tired of it, just ran out of content. So yeah, I'd buy Borderlands and rent/borrow RE5 :)
I don't think I'd play RE5 on a PC. Part of the charm of that game is the very deliberate way it handles, I'm not sure that would translate. Meanwhile Borderlands will be Borderlands.
Resident evil 5 is superior on the pc for graphics if you have a high rez monitor and the aim is very good. Get that, I wouldn't even install borderlands if they gave it to me for free, it's overated by the fans and a rather medicore game with an emphasis on multiplayer and quantity.
Man borderlands is a blast and a half... I've ONLY ever played with at least one more friends, however. If you don't have anyone to play with I dunno if it would be as fun. I guess another question is if you are a loot whore. Borderlands does a great job of scratching that itch.
I can't comment on RE5 either way, as I haven't played it.
Borderlands isn't a very good PC port, and it's not really fun to me unless I have someone to play it with. I'd recommend RE5. Never played it on PC, but I heard it's a smooth port and the controls are pretty good.
Neither, TBH, unless you have friends to play with.
RE5 is a frustrating experience in single player, and Borderlands is just kind of boring. Both are pretty good when you have someone to play with, though.
Borderlands - you may have fun with others - Resi 5 is proof that even WITH co-op - some games can not be saved
Honestly you will have a great co-op experience with both games, and both have pretty high replay value. However, I think RE5 is a bit more feasible as a single-player game than Borderlands which doesn't really do "narrative" all that well. Reading the GB reviews for both is another good way to help your decision too!
Borderlands is pretty terrible on PC, playing MP can be a hassle opening ports and it not being laggy. Don't know the RE5 experience on PC but it was great on the PS3 and id assume on 360 as well. If you have someone to play with go RE5, you prob wont play through it more than once or twice however. It is also some what similar to L4D2 in the zombie/co-op sense.
Borderlands was more fun for me. I just couldn't get past the crappy controls in RE5 and the face that the character takes up more of the screen than almost any other 3rd person shooter (probably my biggest pet peeve in games).
RE5's multiplayer is pretty damn awesome. I played through the campaign a TON (I played splitscreen with my brother after I played singleplayer the first run through), and with infinite ammo weapons, there's a bunch of replay value.
Borderlands' co-op is kind of crummy to me, but it will be fine if you only play together, getting out of sync sucks bad. Also it's important to live close because there's no lag compensation.
RE5 is a great port, I don't recall any lag problems or anything, co-op works well, but the gameplay became a little ho-hum after a while.
"Thanks for all the advice guys, I've gone for Borderlands. Might just get RES5 on the ps3 later in the year. "
Good choice. The multiplayer problems notwithstanding, Borderlands is a fine port with nothing other than minor interface gripes dragging it down, and I personally find it far more enjoyable in single player than multiplayer, anyway. It does also allow for LAN games which work fine, if you have anyone to play LAN games with.
RE5 is one of the worst PC games I have ever tried to play in my life. I personally thought there were tons of issues that would make it bad on any platform with any control method, but the mouseaim is very poorly done. It's evident right from the getgo that they very specifically designed the ergonomics to feel a certain way with thumbsticks, and didn't modify it to accomodate mouse input properly. None of the interface stuff was modified to work optimally with a mouse, either, in ways that are far more problematic than the interface issues Borderlands has.
I own both for PC, and must say I prefer RE5. The game looks and runs amazing, and I've really enjoyed it so far. For Borderlands, I'm almost thinking about getting on 360, just b/c the PC version is pretty sub-par, and I hear (via the Giantbomb staff) that the console versions are much better.
Oh, I see you've already ordered. Oh well. Hope you enjoy it!
