Like the title said, my 5 year old rig died on me so I'm trying to spec out a new one... unfortunately I've forgotten pretty much everything about hardware. I made a wishlist on newegg that has the part I'm looking at.

I want to make sure this is a decent setup for $600. I figured I'd skimp on the video card until next gen ports start coming. Thanks folks!

That card will actually last a good bit, I personally would swap out the AMD for an i5. You wouldn't even have to get an ivy bridge one, sandy will be more than enough which is around the same price.

Couldn't be more overkill on the power supply. You'd probably be fine with around 550-650w, the only reason to go any higher is if you have a lot of harddrives or are running a SLI/Crossfire setup.

Do stick with a well known brand for power supplies though, and don't skimp to much, but you are definitely going way overboard with that one.

Also not sure why you just have a random case fan in there, I assume you already have a case and harddrive you'll be using?

Yeah, forgot to mention that, I've got the case and hard drive... probably can use my old power supply too now that I think about it. Would an Intel processor work with that motherboard? I was under the impression they were very selective about sockets.

Are you just using a single card setup? Seems kinda a tad excessive to have 4 pci express 2.0 slots. Here is a MOBO that can support a single card, have the right LGA 1155 for the i5.

    Link to the MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157314&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Also if you spending that much on a case, I would recommend this one.

NZXT Phantom 410 [looks nice and has great room for air flow]

    Edited for Memory too~

Memory for me is blerg? You can always buy more of it in the future. Here is what I am recommending Mushkin Blackline 12GB

Also for a cheap, good PSU that is 650w it is a Cosair one. I am tried of typing.

Why are so set on that motherboard? Is that motherboard from your old rig?

Don't forget to grab an after-market heat sink for your CPU. The fan it comes with are almost always garbage. I got myself this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103064

Ok, I would recommend you ditch the AMD (they have been stagnant for a while) and go Intel. That power supply is awesome but you could get away with 600w no problem.

Most importantly the 650 is not a good value. If you plan on upgrading later I would save my money and just use onboard graphics for now; you don't gain anything by spending money on an underperforming graphics card.

I would also advise against putting a 2000RPM fan in your computer unless you don't mind it sounding let a jet engine. I'm just going to list a few things worth looking into:

    PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104098

    Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131837

    CPU - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0087EVHTE/?tag=pcpapi-20

    GPU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102993

    Fan - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214029

Agreed, I don't even overclock my CPU and I always get an aftermarket heatsink just to reduce noise. I would recommend a CM Hyper 212+.
