Me and my bro want to build a gaming pc this year that can max out games like starcraft 2 and mass effect 2.
I want to spend less $900 if possible

it's more than you want to spend...but if you pair down the case, the vid card, the SSD, etc....you can get something that can bang out today's stuff for under $1K. i just bought all the parts for my new rig over the weekend, ended up at 1100. Could have ended up below that...but i went for a newer i7 chip among other luxuries.
fyi...should have my new one pieced together this weekend, and throwing StarCraft 2 on it if I have the time. I'll let you know how it runs, if no issues i'll give you my build list.
"I have a 5750. Cheap and it runs everything well. Might go with a 5770 if i was building a PC now though. "
My thoughts exactly. The 5770 is a great and cheap graphics card.
Two of these:

And you're done. Just buy 1 GTX 460 if you just want Radeon 5830 quality performance.
Have fun playing Starcraft 2, which I'm pretty sure is why you want this new PC.
" @Devil240Z said:It doesn't get any better than the GeForce GTX 460 in SLI in terms of price. $400 and you have speed rivaling a Radeon 5970."I have a 5750. Cheap and it runs everything well. Geno has a page for you:

that is kinda overkill I can always upgrade to a gtx460 later .
don't forget I still wan tot get windows 7 and a 19 lcd monitor
Well, I'm one of those weird dudes that thinks the Radeon 5670 is a better choice in terms of value than a GTS 250. Also, an e8400 is a mad stupid idea, go for a phenom x4 if you're buying in that price range" Would probably have to go with an E8400 and GTS 250 if you want everything under $900. "
" @CoverlessTech said:It may very well be. I just never buy ATi due to the lack of linux support so I never really consider them." " @deathstroke75: what is a solid state drive? "
If I'm right it's a drive like a flash drive which doesn't have any moving parts.
" @deathstroke75: what is a solid state drive? "SSD = Solid State Drive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive . It's a complete luxury item in your case. Stick with that thread from Geno to get you there. The peripherals like the DVD burner, kybds, etc you can just pull from an existing box hopefully. a new monitor will throw your price up by around $200. if you have an HD tv, maybe just use it for a while via HDMI or VGA to save up some further cash to get a better monitor down the road.
Hmmm, go with the 700w one that I linked you, that should do it, also, unless you plan to overclock your gpu or processor, an extra cooler probably won't be necessary unless you live in like, Arizona." okay thanks for the help so far guys so far here is what I want
case
mobo I am not about this because amazon may not ship more once there sold out
cpu
videocard
hdd
ram
dvdburner
monitor umm I am not sure what kind of PSU I need for this setup or if I need a cooler for now what do you guys think "
okay thanks and lol I live in Florida
Overall price for everything including OS and Monitor I already have a a K+B
Price
Gtx460 1 gb version for the gpu. It's basically a gtx280 in terms of power, which is enough and also a DX11 videocard. Can't go wrong with the price and power.
End of thread.
