How big is your steam library?

I have 23 games in my library, but only 9 are purchased; the others are free. From those 9 that I purchased, 4 of them were part of a LucasArts classics pack that was like $5.

My rule is that a game should be $5 and less for a purchase on Steam. Though once I did spend $10 for Killing Floor because I thought it seemed good, boy was I wrong. It's a dumb grinding game where the developers have just abandoned it. Out of my few purchases, the Killing Floor purchase was the worst; a pathetic game and purchase, I remind myself of it so I don't make the same mistake again.

Why? Because with Steam you can't sell the game, you can't get rid of it for some money back. That's the worst part about Steam.

It's stupid... game companies have DRM that says you can install it on up to 3 computers (or some other number) ... but how can you do it with Steam? It's tied to your account? So it's stupid. You're going to share your password? Steam locks games to single users, you can't share or trade or even sell....... Steam is very restrictive in this way and I can't support them with higher priced purchases. I might as well walk down the street in search of a poor man selling bootleg games than to purchase an extremely restrictive product from Steam.

Are you smoking rocks dude?

I need some of those rocks maaaan WAAHHHH

Casuals...

Oh man, that post was from years ago. I have about 115 games now.

So you'd rather buy a disc? So old-fashioned. Why should I be sharing my games? They're MY games for a reason. I don't need to sell them because I don't want to spend money again for whenever I want to play a game again. I don't need to fill a closet full of physical games collecting dust. At some point we're going to hit an all-digital age no matter what, and I'll still have my old steam games from nowadays right next to the steam games of the future. I've saved a great deal of money as well by buying games through steam since there are frequent sales where I can buy a game for dirt cheap (which is generally where I buy games).

More on topic I've got 106 games on steam.

504. 62 installed.

Goddammit Humble Bundle, and fuck you steam sales.

#167 Posted by Tiny415 (34 posts) -

472 Games with 414 installed.

I have 99, but most of those games were from bundles that I don't really intend to play. I just like supporting things/wasting money.

Three years later, I'm up to 340 games. Within the past year, Humble Bundles have contributed as much as individually purchased games in the same time. I now have way too many games.

291 games, 113 installed, according to Steam. Had my account since 2004 - a friend pre-ordered Half-Life 2 Silver for me as a gift, before Steam had a formal gifting system. (he registered the account under my name but bought everything with his credit card)

I'm confident that Valve has a solution should their servers go kaput. But I'm not comfortable with anybody else - case in point, the leak that Microsoft will be shutting down GFW has be worried that the four or so games I have on that service won't be accessible come July 2nd, 2014.

I am also genuinely angry that the $400 I spent on Xbox Live Arcade stuff is going to be left to rot on the 360. There will be a day where I can't use any of that stuff ever again, and that really, really sucks.

281, with a few non-steam games that I play through steam.

#178 Posted by Capshot (39 posts) -

My profile says I have 122, but my library says I have 116. Not entirely sure why.

Regardless, I really can only keep 10-15 (usually small) games on there at a time, due to my computer not having all that much space.

#179 Posted by Landmine (525 posts) -

Currently at 144. Now how many have I actually finished...

Your profile probably includes F2P games and betas you played but are no longer installed so the library doesn't count them.

I'm a huge huge fan of Steam, and certainly prefer to do as much of my PC gaming through them as possible. Currently my library is at 187, although a lot of them I got from bundles so I haven't actually spent as much ON Steam as most would expect.

As for being comfortable with digital distribution, well I was certainly sceptical at first, but after experiencing the ease of use, great discounts, and convenience of having a game available to buy and play almost instantly, I'm completely on board with it! That said I still buy a lot of stuff on disc, though mainly console and handheld games. PC wise it's digital (and usually Steam) all the way ^_^

#182 Posted by Bamsen (342 posts) -

My profile says 175 games and I've been on steam since 2nd december 2004, 58 of those are installed. I just found humble bundle so its going to be a lot more games in the future ^^

#183 Posted by Kr7stof (74 posts) -

I have 46 games. I try to not buy everything:) BUT, i have only been actice on steam for 1 year and only did 1 summer sale so i guess we will see how my library grows:)

#184 Edited by woodelf86 (143 posts) -

I am sitting at 449, many of those were backups of console games I had played so they are unplayed on my pc. The only game I have ever bought full price was skyrim Day 1. I love the way Steam works and I continue to try and turn my rig into something worthy of my steam library, next step is a Dell Ultra HD monitor

#185 Posted by speedlolita (6 posts) -

I've had my Steam account for 8 years now and I have 101 games according to my profile, although my Steam client says I have 99 so I'm not sure how that works. I've only ever sunk time into one or two games though. Those games being CS 1.6 and CSS.

Amused me when CS:GO notified me that I had a medal for being a CS veteran (of sorts) which allows me to display that I've played CS for more than 5 years.

#190 Posted by jgf (393 posts) -

50-60 games (with origin and other non-steam stuff). I already mentioned it in another thread. Those cheap games somehow killed the fun in gaming for me. Its though for me to concentrate and dive into a single game, when I know that 40+ others are waiting to be played. So far I always tried to finish the main story of my games, but that seems now nearly impossible.

#191 Posted by Djeuve (8 posts) -

Just over 80 games, most of which I just get on sale to play later. Play new games right away at full price? With a full time job, ain't nobody got time for d'at....

One. Portal was free back in 09 I think. I made an account, downloaded it, played through it (had a great time!) and then promptly uninstalled everything. I remember neither my username nor password, which has probably been deleted by now anyway.
