" @Gunner: why would i have to install windows? i want to play starcraft 2 when it comes out you can play that on a mac "Dude... if you want to play more than Starcraft and The Sims, you will need Windows. Why get so defensive about it?
It is very easy to install Windows on your Mac with Bootcamp and it is worth the effort if you want to have some choice in the games you play. I still run my iMac with 2.2GHz Dual Core and have no problems running any game that appeals to me, all RTS, like Civilisation IV. Your new one is far more powerful, with a much better graphics card, so apart from Crysis, I can't see many games that it won't run well. I personally never use Windows for anything but RTS games and nor do my kids, so unless you plan to play more games apart from Starcraft 2, then you won't need it.
hes butthurt over the price he paid for it just to have to install windows on it anyway." @Iyiu said:

" @mhkjtha said:damn thats a good buy. you should be able to max out more or less everything with a pc like that, except crysis and gta4. (even in really high resolutions)" you couldve gotten a pc with those specs way, way cheaper "I actually got a desktop PC with a 3.2GHZ dual core, 4gb ram 4850 and a 1TB hard-drive for £350, brand new. Wonder how much this cost... "
no you don't" I wish I could afford a Mac. "
" @Gizmo said:L4D maxed doesn't drop below 45 fps on max settings, so yeah, that's pretty cool :D" @mhkjtha said:damn thats a good buy. you should be able to max out more or less everything with a pc like that, except crysis and gta4. Yes you can. It's a medium spec therefore it should play most games at a reasonable framerate.
Also, these people are trying to help you and are suggesting what they think is the best solution so don't be so rude.
" @Iyiu: @torus was not being a dick, you were. "this.
" @Iyiu: You were the only guy in here being a dick. Torus just dropped some facts and you turned into a complete prick. Whether or not I like Windows more than OS X is irrelevant, you'll still need to install Windows to get any mileage out of your new "gaming machine". Get the fuck off the boards if you're gonna act like that. "This.
If thats all you wanted to know, it was answered in the very first response..."yeah i know you can only play some games on macs but thats not what im asking im just asking if the specs are good enough to play games on ppl dont have to be dicks about it just cuz they like windows more "
"Yes. You will need to install Windows on it. "
I must admit I LOL'd hard when I read the punchline to the "complete sentences" setup.
Then the OP starts talking like he knows what he's talking about and it all goes down hill. FYI Windows is what makes it capable of PC gaming, otherwise this should be in the Mac forum. You can play a tiny handful of games on Mac without Windows because most developers don't port their games to MAC OS. Luckily for you current gen Mac owners you can now run Windows without emulating it.

" yeah i know you can only play some games on macs but thats not what im asking im just asking if the specs are good enough to play games on ppl dont have to be dicks about it just cuz they like windows more "The OS is part of the specs. As your machine currently stands, NO it cannot play many games until you install Windows.
" yeah i know you can only play some games on macs but thats not what im asking im just asking if the specs are good enough to play games on ppl dont have to be dicks about it just cuz they like windows more "Yes off course those specs are good enough. the gpu is really weak compared to the rest of the package, but its still a really good gpu. you should be able to max out most stuff.
Your specs are decent, but the graphics card is on the weak side. Had you bought a PC you could've at least bought another 4850 to run it in crossfire, which is what you'll need if you want to play high settings on most games (however due to being a Mac, I"m 99% sure the mobo isn't crossfire compatible, and it's probably nonstandard anyway meaning you can't customize/upgrade it later). Probably would've cost you 1/3-1/2 as much as you paid too. Also as other users have said, you need Windows to play most games.
" @mhkjtha said:Wo! where did you get that from? I recently paid about that much for a laptop with roughly half the performance." you couldve gotten a pc with those specs way, way cheaper "I actually got a desktop PC with a 3.2GHZ dual core, 4gb ram 4850 and a 1TB hard-drive for £350, brand new.
