Italian website PC Gaming interviewed Daniel Vavra creative director at Warhorse.

Yes. Skyrim set in a real medieval world, with little bit more emphasis on story. We are also more concentrated on quality rather that quantity. So don’t expect 200 dungeons in our game, we will have more like 10, but much more detailed and special.
There wil be nine weapon classes. Every weapon class uses different and authentic medieval technique which we design with actual very experienced swordsmen. The combat is first person, which is really a challenge, but I believe we made it very simple to control, while giving the player lot of complex choices at any given moment. You can select which bodypart you want to attack and how, we have combos etc. But on top of that, its based on physics, so anytime you hit something, there really is impact, proper physical reaction of the target, yyour swords slides over the armor etc. Something that couldn’t be possible on current gen. We are really proud of this and will show it in upcoming video update on our Kickstarter page.
Its developed on PC with concoles in mind. Next gen consoles have lot of memory so they don’t limit us in terms of texture size etc. Normal PCs should run very smooth and if someone has some powerful beast, he can always make it run with bigger viewing distance, more effects and larger resolution.
PC gaming means freedom for developers and gamers. The rise of indie community on PC these days is awesome and PC is doing damn well. Its far from dead as many have predicted in the past and its going to stay. Which is great news and I never doubted that. But I am not the platform wars guy, I have pretty powerful PC, Windows Phone, iPad, Win8 tablet, PS3, XboxOne, 3DS… I owned and loved Amiga, C64, ZX Spectrum, Nintendo 64 and GC and I find every platform I owned interesting in its own way

9 dungeons and a focus on story means it's basically nothing like Skyrim, outside of an open world. Just seems like they're trying to ride the coattails of an immensely popular game.

I'm sorry if that makes me sound cynical, but the whole point of Skyrim is the massive open world. This game might be good, but an Elder Scrolls game it won't be

So... nothing like Skyrim at all then. Good, I already have that one.

I was excited for this game. Then I saw they're releasing it episodically or some shit. Screw that.

So just because they do it in episode with each episode like 30 hours long like lets say mass effect you say screw it?

people who are interested should take a look at this here.

It tells you a lot about this game and they also will be releasing more video updates about the combat, horse riding, AI customization and so on. The first one was about how to create the world and how they try to stay as authentic as possible. It is ia really great video because it not only shows the world but also how it compares with the real world locations they are using,

We’re mixing the freedom and mechanics of Skyrim, the setting of Mount and Blade, the storytelling styles of The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption, and the tough combat dynamics of Dark Souls into a single, gorgeous package.

Well that's one way to make sure you get your money I guess...

Maybe it'll totally be that, I don't know, but I'm gonna go ahead and not take their word for it. I'll wait.

I was under the impression they will not be 30 hour episodes like Mass Effect, and that the episodes together in total may be 30 hours. I can't find where I read all this anyway.

It is on the kickstarter page:

    • Approx. gameplay time: 30 hours (Act 1), 70+ hours (all 3 acts)
