Need a "bang for a buck" laptop

So I need a decent laptop mainly for schoolwork in around the 400-500 range, does anyone have any recommendations for a decent laptop in that price range.

I do not plan on using it for playing games.

If all you need it for is Office etc. you don't really need to bother. Just buy an Asus or Acer or something in your price range. They make good laptops.
