Need a GPU($100 budget)

#1 Posted by Jayzilla (2428 posts) - 5 months, 28 days ago

Duders, I need a new GPU and don't have a lot to spend right now. I have a 500W PSU, so it's not an issue. I just want your guys opinions so I am not making any bad decisions or oversights. I am leaning towards a gt 640, but any feedback is appreciated. Thanks much!

Here are the Tom's Hardware benchmarks for a GT 640, and here are the Tom's Hardware benchmarks for a 7750 and 7770.

Just at a quick glance the HD 7750 seems like the better card and it could run pretty much anything provided your CPU doesn't bottleneck it and you don't mind lower settings and lower resolutions, and the HD 7750 costs about $100

@believer258: it's real, but local only, if they had stock near me I'd be buying a few.

I wouldn't waste money on a 640, wait for something better on sale, or buy a used one.

This. I will also add that I recently got a Zotac and I'm really happy with the card. I'll definitely go for them next time I need an upgrade.

@destruktive: Which card did you go with?

Im still pretty happy with my 5850, for under a hundred bucks it's pretty great. Can play Far Cry on High with DX11
