Good ratings, desired resolution, desired HDMI, low response time.

Contrast Ratio is a load of crap, there is no standard. So every company has their own ratio.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117 is also another good choice, slightly smaller, lower response (anyuthing below 5 you won't be able to tell the difference) and it's LED instead of LCD. Some people prefer the LCD colors to LED.

Personally for my future monitors, i'd ones with height adjustment rather than just tilt however they are more money. Then again my PC is used as both a Edit workstation and a gaming system.

Nice choice, but Is there any advantages to that one when compared to this?  http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/645704-REG/ASUS_VH236H_VH236H_23_Widescreen_Monitor.html#pr-header-645704 It ends of being 20$ cheaper after MIR.
That one isn't LED LCD if that matters to ya.
    I've been eye'n this one...
    $20 off till 9/5
Edit: Why the fuck do my links never work?

I've heard people say that some LED's have a bluish tint in the picture. Not sure if that is true or not.

I think he picked it because it has had 1613 reviews, in 75% of the reviews it scored 5 eggs and in 15% of the reviews it scored 4 eggs a total of 10% of reviewers marked it with 3 eggs or lower. I find it hard to believe that you will not like that screen and is perfect for your budget.

Yes, but remember, some people are idiots...
    ; )

I dunno, maybe on cheaper screens.
Look around, everything is going LED LCD.
At some point ya won't be able to find a regular LCD screen.
So I wouldn't directly associate that with LED, maybe just a bad LED.
Companies wouldn't focus on this newer technology if it made everything "blue."

I'd go into a store and see what brand impresses me the most in person.
Then go buy it cheaper online.

I just bought an LG 21.5" IPS monitor and it's been looking great so far. It's 1080p, has an HDMI port and was only $150.

Yeah, the new cheaper IPS-screens (it's the type of panel in the screen) are quite excellent. I think the type is called E-IPS. Getting one on monday, Dell somethingsomething E-IPS 23''. Can get back to you if you're interested. About $200, but they say it's worth it.

Don't go with a cheaper Benq TN or something. Had one for a year now and it goddamn mangles every single color on the screen.

I wonder if there's any good labor day sales for monitors. Because although I did say 100-200$, I'd really prefer 160$ or less.

BH charges shipping and handling and tax. Unless you are local (i'm in New York) you can save on the shipping. It probably comes out about even, also you can never always trust a MIR to actually come through with it.

He needed a monitor with HDMI. So it was an option within NewEgg to search for. Low Response Time is the MS. Anything below 5 is fine, higher ones used to give a ghosting effect due to earlier LCD monitors however this hasn't been an issue in years.

Yes I went with a highly rated monitor, it has its track record. I typically ONLY buy from NewEgg due to their RMA, fast ship and excellent customer service.

I personally have 2; 23" LG LCDs monitors.

@Adamsons: Yeah, it seems it might be more. I don't know any other US hardware sites and it isn't on Newegg, but it's 2000 SEK (swedish krona), which is about 313 dollars, but electronic prices are always way inflated here and usually $200 = 2000 SEK, even though it's roughly only 1200 SEK.

According to DELLs page it is 313 dollars though. Also lacks HDMI, but that can be easily fixed with DVI > HDMI.
