#1 Edited by Fattony12000 (4370 posts) - 10 months, 19 days ago

Roll Up! Roll Up!

Roll Down those graphics sliders!

We all know how good PC/console/vacuum tube/electronical/computer/video games can look these days, but what about those of us who need to really feel those pixels? What about those of us who need 1920x1080 resolution screenshots with no AA or AF or anything?

Well, boy howdy do I have the very thread for you! Show us all what you got!

Just Cause 2

some of your shots dont look so bad, i'll crank the settings down and get some shots later

#3 Posted by theguy (768 posts) - 10 months, 19 days ago

Surprised how well Just Cause 2 scales.

#4 Posted by CannonGoose (348 posts) - 10 months, 19 days ago

Nice, a few of my screenshots are already in the OP! My work here is done.

The low settings still look better than the crap console versions. I have tried this before on a PC that is 7 years old for lulz.

Oh dear... Oblivion looks terrible. hahaha

Makes me wanna play BF3 in 640x480 full screen on a 1080p monitor again.

its because the screenshots are taken of a game at the lowest resolution and youre looking at them at a much higher one, so instead of being blown up on the entire monitor where you can find all the ugliness, its small and not all that bad looking.

Because at this point, its predecessor feels obvious.

The units from Shogun 2 are hilarious. Are they carrying laundry bags or something?

#12 Posted by buft (3142 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

meant to post this yesterday but ended up playing battlefield multiplayer instead

I dont think it looks too bad considering its at the lowest everything

#13 Posted by crithon (353 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

oh man this is wonderful, just gives me an a greater appreciation for all those bells and whistles.

#14 Posted by MikkaQ (9704 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

They all look like old UE3 games before the textures loaded all the way.

#15 Posted by Pie (6414 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

Some shots from Max Payne 3. They really don't look that bad.

Games that truly scale well should look like utter dog shit on the absolute lowest setting.

#17 Posted by JasonR86 (7675 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

You know, they don't look terrible. They certainly look playable. That's kind of nice actually. I wouldn't ever want to play a game with such low settings but I imagine those graphics look fine for some people.

Wow! The Wii U is....Awesome!

#19 Posted by Patman99 (1295 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

That Oblivion picture looks terrible but the rest look alright. Also zooming in on Total War is not really fair, that shit looks blocky even when you crank those graphic sliders to the max.

#20 Posted by believer258 (7820 posts) - 10 months, 17 days ago

They at least look somewhat playable and some don't look bad at all, though the Doom 3 picture is really jarring because that game is supposed to be pretty dark.

As for me?

That's actually a lighting bug but at the time I didn't know it and I turned it all the way down to see if I could fix it. To this day, it's still a dice roll as to whether the lighting will work or not whenever I start up Half-Life 2.

I'm impressed that you could get those results actually. That game still doesn't run at 60 when I crank it on a high-mid range machine. I'm writing something about thsi game at the moment, you don't happen to have a copy of that cfg kicking around do you?

#30 Edited by Devildoll (616 posts) - 10 months, 3 days ago

@nintendoeats:

Well i grabbed the screenshot from a thread i posted on incrysis.com in 2008. so its been a long time, i barely remember where the config is located, and ive probably done multiple wipes of my machine since then.

But ill see if i cant find something.

Edit : no, couldn't find anything unfortunately.

Aww man, I'm SO glad this exists. Not only do I have low-settings screenshots, they're LOW-RES. Behold, Saints Row: The Third (in glorious jpeg-o-vision)at 1440x900!

Also, PNGs (also at 1440x900).

Also, more on Steam (only the shots dated July 25th are at 1440x900, but they're ALL at the game's lowest settings.

GLORIOUS PC MASTER RACE

Edit: Yup, digging threads up again. :D

#32 Edited by clstirens (831 posts) - 9 months, 9 days ago

Running on an Intel HD 4000

EDIT: And this was at min res, 640x420 (or something, widescreen, so it wasn't x480) and I was getting 31 fps

#33 Posted by MordeaniisChaos (5709 posts) - 9 months, 9 days ago

@Fattony12000: No exterior shot from oblivion? If you truly turn the settings down to their lowest settings, the view distance is about a foot, and all you can see is white fog. It's incredible.
