Upgraded from DVI-A to HDMI, the font looks blurry/weird

Hey everyone, I'll try to give as much important information as I can think of. Just got my "Coboc 10 ft. high speed hdmi cable" and plugged it into my 660 ti and 32 inch vizio hdtv, the resolution says 1920x1080 (Recommended) which I absolutely love the size of everything, even the font, but some reason the font just seems real blurry.. I tried changing the display size and obviously it gets bigger/smaller but still something off about it...

Anyone have suggestions I can try?

Side note: I think dual link dvi-i is superior than hdmi but that's irrelevant because I'm pretty sure my 660 ti's dual link connector doesn't work

Did you use the TV as your monitor before the switch? TVs are normally very shitty for text compared to monitors.

Yeah I recently started using my TV as my secondary and it has a worse picture than the 10 year old 1024*768 monitor I was using before, but I need dat real estate.

It might be an over scan issue. Search around on google how to fix it, it is usually a setting on the TV.

Also if you are on windows 7 go to the start menu and search for ClearType, that might help somewhat too.

Yeah, use the clear type. Probably also want to mess with the gamma etc, there is an option in windows display settings, i think in advanced it will go through all of it.

I'd also recommend making the default font bigger, thats what i do on my 24inch 1080p. It was really hard to read.

TV can also try to do some kind of post processing, so disable that.

I have my i7 3770 EVGA Gtx 670 2gb hooked up to my SHARP Quattron 60" 3D HDTV via HDMI. The HTDV sits at the foot of my bed and the text looks fine in windows.

You can try adjusting the level of image scaling on your PC, some of the tvs have really weird overscan settings and you need to bleed the picture off the edge of the monitor to get it to display correctly.

This was largely a deciding factor whenever using my Samsung TV as a secondary monitor. Only for me everything was very blurry compared to my super old Asus monitor. Turning up sharpness from the 15 it was on to roughly about 30-40 made a huge difference in both games and desktop alike.

    • HDMI 1.3 supports up to 60 Hz
    • HDMI 1.4 supports up to 120 Hz
    • HDMI can carry 7.1 audio
    • DVI Single Link supports a max resolution of 1080P
    • DVI Dual Link supports a max resolution of 2500x1600 and up to 120 Hz
    • All DVI connections only carry video

Other than that, they're the same.

It's your TV's OSD and image processor going to town on the signal to make it "look better". You need to kill any so called enhancement options and see if there's any sharpness requirements to dial it in, also check for a PC mode or PC flag for the input naming.

Yup. I use my Samsung TV as my main monitor for everything and I keep the sharpness at 30 when using the PC. I sit 3 meters away and the text is not blurry at all.
