Here I am, with a cubic butt ton of video I have to shoot for school purposes, and a computer and/or camera that is not willing to cooperate.

So I've shot my video, and it all looks fine on the camera when I rewind and watch it. However when I plug it in to my computer (4-pin firewire to 4-pin firewire) and hit import, it drops  tons and tons of frames. I think I tried to import two or so minutes of footage with about 1,800 dropped frames.

          Aww, come on!

I figured it isn't an issue with the DV tape, as it's viewable on the camera. Hence by deductive reasoning, I believe it to be either the firewire cable itself, or my laptop. I'll be able to test whether the cable is messed up tomorrow as I'm getting my friends in here to see if it works.

I don't think it's a issue with the computers specs, as I've imported video on my old laptop without issue. It had about 0.5GB of RAM, whereas this one has 3GB. It could then be a problem with the firewire port. If this is the problem is there anything I can do?

Anyways if anyone has help I'd appreciate it.

Oh, my editing software is Sony Vegas 9.0, my camera is a Canon ZR900, and my laptop is an Acer Extensa 5420.
