I've been using AVG. Its free so you could at least use it until you find something better.

AVG Free Edition is pretty nice, and I also use Spybot S+D.

At the moment I'm using AVG 8 free edition. I used to use AVG 7 free edition, AVG anti-spyware free edition, and AVG anti-rootkit free edition. I use AVG because I trust it and it's free, it's not a trial, it doesn't offer 'limited' protection (if you use all 3 of the free editions) and it doesn't leave any "residue" after deleting.

But you have to keep in mind that the best virus protection is common sense.

I've been using Trend Micro's PC-Cillin Internet Security on XP for 2-going-on-3-years now and I really like it. It never misses anything and it's easy to use. I'm sure it would work just as well on Vista.
