I apologize, I didn't mean to submit. My enter button is stupid =P
Anyways, I really don't want to invest too much $$$$ (or make a new thread with a corrected title)
But I'd really like something that could atleast handle Psychonauts or Spore on max settings.
Ideas please? I will post with my graphics card in a sec. (Haha, geez. I'm using Chrome & I can't turn the italix off) Edit:
I'm thinking around a $100, lower would be cool. $120 wouldn't be bad.
& my current card is a Nvidia Geforce 6100 (Integrated RAMDAC) running DirectX 10

What is an affordable graphics card? I don
It would play both games pretty easily for ya ;)
Although it really depends on if you wanna go higher or lower (price wise)

" Can graphics cards be built onto motherboards? & if so, can u remove them to replace it? I'm not positive, but I think mine might be.....graphics cards can be built onto motherboards, they're called integrated graphics cards and they suck.
Or I'm f-ing retarded. EDIT: I take that back, I'm high... "
Your new graphics card will take up a different slot on your motherboard (usually PCI-Express), and you plug the monitor into the new graphics card instead of the onboard video.
" @jNerd: No. You don't have to remove your old integrated graphics card. Your new graphics card will take up a different slot on your motherboard (usually PCI-Express), and you plug the monitor into the new graphics card instead of the onboard video. "Sick! Thank u.

ATi 4850
or 9800GTX+ if you're an nvidia guy
can't go wrong with those for the price

Although whenever people ask for a good budget card the first thing that pops into my head is a 9800 :P
But yeah the 4850 is an excellent card as well :)

i'm an ATI guy so i';m pretty much obliged to recommend that card.
" @captain_clayman: I'm thinking about dipping my toes into the ATI pool soon :P Thinking about going all out on a 5850 but the new line of Fermi cards looks oh so temping :D "i reaaaaally want a 5870
but i need money. and a lot of it.
think of it this way. when nvidia's GTX 480 and 470 come out, they'll be like 800 dollars and the 5870 will be like 300.

The 5870 look pretty badass as well but I've had my sights set on a 5850 for a while now,it's my white whale.
9800GTX+ is a good recommendation because the card doesn't stutter. Also the idle tempertures aren't as high as the hd4850 which can run very hot. Well that's my opinion and recommendation, maybe not everyone will accept that, however I believe what i'm saying is true.
Just today is installed my new Nvidia 9500GT. I've only tried ME1 so far, but it runs smooth and sexy. Then again, it won't run most things over 30 FPS, but that's great for me. Plus, it was $70.
GTS 250 for $139 will be better then a 9800

The GTS250 is pretty much a 9800GTX re-skinned (which in turn was an 8800GTS 512 re-skinned). Nvidia have been repackaging the G92 chip for ages now, but that being said the 250 will suit your needs just fine.
Failing that take a look at the ATI 5770 (might be a little to much, dunno what US pricing is like) or the 5750. Both are great cards and have a DX11 feature set to boot.
