Your crouch button preference? (PC)

I've seen a lot of games that default to C for crouch, which just strikes me as odd; personally, I'm just so used to using ctrl for crouch. C just seems more difficult to access for me.

Always Ctrl. Always.

#4 Posted by mscupcakes (631 posts) -

If the game has a walk key I set it to Shift and crouch to Ctrl, but sometimes I set crouch to shift if my pinky is hurtin'.

Shift, whenever possible.

#6 Posted by captain_clayman (3349 posts) -

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or have never played a FPS on a PC before.

Anyway ctrl for me.

For BF3 I have it set to CTRL for crouch but C is the toggle. So if it's possible I usually have it like that. Otherwise, just ctrl.

Numpad 1.

Neither, I just like 2D games and the OP didn't specify the genre. For FPSs prefer shift to ctrl so my poll answer still applies.

Alright then, carry on.

If I use it a lot in a game then C (Preferably Toggled), if I don't really use it then I chuck it off to Ctrl and forget about it.

#16 Edited by bybeach (5186 posts) -

Gawd, I've used C all me life. That is as important as SPACE for jump, or R for reload. F or E fight for use, depending if there is lean-right or even something else.

C for crouch, otherwise it is madness. Or the game is a bitch.

#17 Posted by MostlyBearded (193 posts) -

It's always been crtl for me, and so it shall be for eternity.

#18 Posted by gike987 (1811 posts) -

C to crouch except for TF2 were I use Shift to crouch.

#19 Posted by Blackout62 (1517 posts) -

C, LIKE A BOSS!

#20 Posted by Vextroid (1467 posts) -

Shift.

Makes crouch jumping easier for me.

#21 Posted by gamma_male (81 posts) -

Ctrl. Shift is for sprinting and you all know it.

Ctrl. Shift is for sprinting and you all know it.

This. Also I prefer toggle over holding it down.

Shift.

Shift for sprint Ctrl for crouch X for prone.

#33 Posted by SirOptimusPrime (2037 posts) -

Ctrl, forever and always.

#34 Posted by Draugen (788 posts) -

There is only C. Ctrl is for prone. Come on, people. This is basic knowledge.

#35 Posted by AjayRaz (12677 posts) -

always ctrl. always.

#36 Posted by RandomInternetUser (6805 posts) -

C, ctrl is much more of a hassle to hit with your pinky. However, if there is no toggle crouch, ctrl, because holding C is not viable since you need your index finger to strafe right.

#37 Posted by TobbRobb (5214 posts) -

CTRL, and Z for prone. From BF2

#38 Posted by Daveyo520 (7378 posts) -

@AjayRaz: Are you always in control Ajay?

#39 Edited by Ravenlight (8057 posts) -

Left Control. Anyone who says otherwise is a terrorist or playing QWOP.

By extrapolating, we can see that 100% of all QWOP players are terrorists. Do you know where your children are right now?

#40 Posted by Spoonman671 (5130 posts) -

Ctrl.  Also, toggle.

#41 Posted by Aronman789 (2737 posts) -

Q, motherfuckers.

Both are similarly easy to hit but if I have to hold it to stay crouched, I want to use Ctrl. For games where I want to toggle it, I like C. Either works for me, usually.

#45 Posted by Dagbiker (7022 posts) -

Ctrl, not just ctrl, but left ctrl

#46 Posted by JTB123 (1167 posts) -

Now I think I'm strange, I use caps lock, maybe it depends on your keyboard, mine is just a standard one, my little finger rests perfectly on it.

#47 Posted by ShaggE (7225 posts) -

Accidentally voted C key, but CTRL. Unless it's an old-school shooter, then Z.

#48 Posted by KillyDarko (1990 posts) -

Very good question. Left Shift, always.

Ctrl...toggle.

What is this? Is there any other way?
