Hi i would like the 9600gt users of this forum to put your experience with this problem. I had no problem with a few games like: Lost Planet, COD 4, Bioshock, Company of Heroes but this week i started playing WoW again (I left it when i was using a 7600gt) and after a few minutes of playing the screen goes black and you can only reboot your system. I investigated and it is something common of this model (the WoW compatibility), i also read that some users had problems with The Witcher and Team Fortress 2 too.
Well if someone has this video card and had tried some games i would like you to post your experience with it, if there is a huge compatibilty problem i will have to get rid of it and buy an ATI HD4850, the problem is that i don't want to spend more money on this pc till i buy a whole new one
If someone is playing WAR using this videocard, that would help me a lot because i want to start playing it.

PD: My vga is a MSI 9600GT 512 OC but i read that BFG,XFX, etc have the same problem with WoW

Did you check to see if you card is overheating or underpowered?

Yeah.

It could be that your PSU is not powerful enough. How many watts is your power supply?

I bought a 500w PSU when i upgraded the video card and the video card is connected to the PCI-E slot and it has the auxiliar connection that it is required as well. I forgot to say that the other games i played, i used Max Settings, 1440x900 res and 4x AA. I tried playing WoW in Max with 8x, 4x AA and Low with no AA, but it is always the same, sometimes it goes black screen after five minutes of playing and others i could play like an hour. I also reached lvl 55 in call of duty 4 using this VGA and some days i played more than five hours (i really liked its MP xD)  without any problem

Yeah that should be fine. Considering WoW isn't graphically demanding - it shouldn't really eat up your system. I don't know whats wrong, it could be a defect with the video card. Try updating the drivers for the card.

I updated the drivers but the problem is not solved, well i don't want to mess in the GB forum with a VGA issue, if someone is playing WAR (especially, i really like the Warhammer universe and mmorpgs XD) please send me a PM telling me if you experience some problem, i am really not having a lot of time to play and the only game that would sucked me in would be WAR and maybe The Witcher Enhanced Edition for some single player gaming.

The same shit happened to my Radeon 4870...
Mine kept freezing and i kept getting the black screen of death, the problem was that my card was overheating because the air circulation in my case wasnt great because of power cables everywhere, but i squeezed them into a corner out of the way and i haven't had a problem since

I have a BFG  9600gt OC for almost 10 months and it was working fine until last week, the black screen apeared after 20 minutes of game so i decided to look out for answers in the net, I tried many solutions poted but none really  work until i find an interesting topic, they said that de oc wasunestable in the shader clock, the original state was 1700 whit the oc, and they told me to change it to 1625 with rivatuner, so i tested yestrday and it works like a charm, i playd for more tha 3 hours and the black screen never apeared, so my gues is that the new drivers made unestable my card with that speed so changing it a little lower makes it stable.

hope it can help you .
