EDIT: I need a program that can .BUP, IFO and VOB files into their original DVD format. thanks!!

I used to use Nero but theyve gone all bullshit and have basically turned into a massive spyware program that does everything it can to take over your computer. It significantly slowed down my computer because my anti-virus/malware program didnt like it (i dont blame it).

So does anyone know of any other good program to burn CD's and DVD's? I basically want all the functionality/options that Nero used to have (ability to burn images, create DVD movies, audio CD's, disk data DVD/CD's etc)

any help is appreciated, thank you :)

EDIT: it doesnt have to be free, as long as it doesnt try to force you to use it all the time etc

There's a few popular free alternatives which do almost everything Nero does:

Give them a go and see which you like best.

Great choices. Also, forget about Nero. We all used and loved it at some point in the 90s, but since then it turned into bloatware (not to mention pricey).

InfraRecorder is definitely a good open source option for Windows. I do most of my burning either from OSX or on Linux, using cdrecord from the command line, which is super fast and doesn't require a cluttered application or anything.

It appears there is something similar available for Windows, but as I've not used it, I'm not certain how robust it is:

ImgBurn works fantastically well. Not quite the functionality that Nero had, but I'll look around more when I need it. Thanks guys.

@Branthog: I just use Brasero disc burner in Linux. Works fine for me.

Alcohol 120%.

I advice you to acquire it legally if you catch my drift.

@mhkjtha: ImgBurn has some ripping features - it's by the guy who made the original DVD Decrypter, you could also try DVD Shrink.
