CPU : Core 2 Duo E8400 (E0 stepping)
RAM : 4GB G. Skill 800MHz 4-4-4-12 CAS
HDD : Western Digital 500GB Caviar Black (32MB cache)
case : Antec 300 (great case I might add, best I've ever had, including previous Antecs)
OS : Vista 64-bit
mobo : Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L (no SLi, crossfire, or RAID)
PSU : Corsair 550W
GPU : EVGA Geforce GTX260 core 216 (edit : 55nm btw, makes a big difference in power consumption, heat, and noise)

Bought it from AVADirect, they did a fantastic job.  Better build than I've ever done myself or had built for me, at a good price.  Computer is extremely quiet even when playing graphically intense games.

Updated system specs:

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6GHz

MOBO - EVGA 750i FTW
Memory - 8gigs of Mushkin DDR2 running at 4-4-4-12

Final upgrade will be a Q9550 with a CoolerMaster V8. Which will occur by the end of the year being that Q9550s are down to about 220 USD. So 300 dollar upgrade to maximize my system pretty much seems like a good idea :p

Built mine a little more than year ago. Specs are from memory.

Antec Sonata 3
Core 2 Duo E7200
Gigabyte EP35-DS3L
4GB Corsair DDR2
160GB Seagate Barracuda I had laying around
E-VGA 9600GT
Logitech G5 Mouse
No-frills Logitech keyboard
24 inch BenQ LCD

Wasn't anything amazing at the time, but I wanted something with a bigger screen and just enough power to push it in the games I was interested in. Still happy with it.

AMD X2-7750 Black
4GB DDR2-800
512MB Sapphire HD 4830
1TB WD Black
Gigabyte 78GM motherboard
Antec Sonata III - 500w Earthwatts

Cost me around $500CDN about a month ago, I have no complaints.

It's a piece of shit with a screen. Might as well be called the "Giantbomb and Asian Porn Rig" as that's pretty much all it does, and it can't even do those things together so no need to worry.

A X-Fi isn't going to give you much benefit from Vista onwards.  MS changed the way Windows handles sound so it can never work well for how Creative designed their system.  If they want to stay afloat as a business they're going to have to re engineer their entire system.  So basically don't get any Creative sound card for the time being.

Yup, easily. That should be able to run every game out there right now, including Crysis, at high settings at a very decent framerate.
