Pedestrians are programmed to make cities and towns look and feel more alive by the appearance of driving vehicles and walking around. In Sandbox games such as GTA III, and since then, pedestrians have evolved to interact with the player and the environment. If the main character were to punch a pedestrian, the pedestrian can either run away or fight back. When a car is barreling down the sidewalk or a bomb goes off, pedestrians have the instinct to run away screaming.
