Penny Arcade is an iconic gaming webcomic by Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. Its first strips appeared in 1998.

In 2008, their action-adventure game  On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness debuted on several platforms. It was planned to consist of four episodes, two of which have been released. In the games, the player creates their own character and is accompanied by Krahulik's and Holkins' alter egos  Gabe and  Tycho, solving H.P. Lovecraft-inspired mysteries.

The third game in the series was put on indefinite hold due to Hothead Games's occupation with DeathSpank and unexpectedly low sales of Episode 2. Holkins released a written version of the story in chapters between August 9 2010 and January 14 2011, and has expressed intention to release additional notes and reading material.
